dont bother March 17, 2010 John C. Jones I thought this item (especially the smart spin function) was a really good idea. I tried to use it once and was unable to use the smart spin function, because the fry basket would not click into place. I cooked chicken acccording to the instructions and it came out very raw on the inside. The item is rather heavy, takes up a lot of cabinet space, andonly holds/cooks very little food at a time. I registered it upon arrival, and after learning that it did not work was told by the George Foreman/warranty company that it was over a year old and was no longer covered (eventhough I had just received it).
All in all I would say a huge, worthless, hassle.
Good Fryer! March 11, 2010 James Orrahood (Henderson, Kentucky) Over all this is a pretty good fryer. As was stated in other reviews, the over all size is a factor and if you like a lot of fried foods, this product would not be very good for you. The temp. gages are hard to read. The smart spin is nice but you need to watch as it will damage the food when spinning.
Great fun! February 1, 2010 P. Schmidt This fryer was recommended by friends before I purchased it as gift for future son in law. He (and his friends) just love it. Really spins out the grease. Secret to cleaning....after emptying oil, soak basket in hot soapy water overnight. Don't let food dry on basket! The unit is heavy, but if you are going to have hot grease spinning around, that weight is a good thing.
Spin out the oil. January 21, 2010 Keith J. Morse (Madisonville, La.) Just so you aren't in the dark on this purchase. The fryer is easy to take apart and clean. It does spin the oil out as advertised. My complaints are: The frying basket is a bit small so your not going to get a lot in it. You don't want to stack items either because they won't be submerged in the oil. However it does fry fairly quickly. You can fit three chicken strips in it at a time. The other issue is that the basket has to fit perfectly on the center shaft in order for it to go back in the fryer. It has a tendency to stick and you have to sometimes turn the basket so it can go down. Burned the tip of my fingers trying to line it up with shaft. The basket stays pretty hot for a while so use caution when handling. All in all I still like the fryer. In order to increase the size of the basket this thing would have to be as big as a small microwave and if it were that big I wouldn't want it. Hope this aids in your decission.
Love this fryer January 10, 2010 Josh Rogers (Spring Hill, TN United States) This fryer is an excellent product; I am so glad I bought this for my wife. I have eaten food from other home deep fryers and this tastes just as good if not better. However, this fryer exceeds other fryers due to the simple (why didn't anyone think of this before?) spin process at the end. We always dab our fried foods with paper towels at the end to soak up some of the grease, there is always some except with this fryer. We are unable to get any grease to soak up with a paper towel because there seemingly is none.
I would say our only complaint is the clumsiness of the sliding frying basket. The plastic track that you slide the basket up and down in is too easy to miss when inserting the basket leaving you wondering why it isn't catching like you are supposed to. Also the button has almost no feedback to it so you can't tell if you have pushed hard enough and you end up lifting and accidentally lifting the whole fryer because you haven't pressed hard enough.
Overall this product is absolutely excellent and having to pay a little closer attention to how you handle the basket isn't enough of a detriment to consider this product any less. All we have tried so far is frozen fries and cheese sticks, I can't wait until we can make home made fries and try that.
