BROKEN DOOR October 2, 2008 R from NY (New York) I liked this toaster oven a lot, until the door broke (fell apart). Here are the issues: a) the right side came out from the main unit, and b) the left side - the glass detached from the metal slot it is in (not sure if i described that correctly) BUT BOTTOM LINE IS THE DOOR is BROKEN. I put the door back on, on both sides and the door wont close all the way.
Caveat emptor! September 30, 2008 Bix (San Jose) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This toaster oven has two negatives--one is tolerable, the other is not. The crumb tray must be removed from the rear of the oven. That is awkward and many competitive manufacturers offer a front-loading crumb tray. After a few months of use the oven door would not close tightly allowing heat to escape. I will not tolerate such a malfunction in a toaster oven that I own. I discarded the oven and purchased a new oven from a different manufacturer. The new oven is a convection oven (the TOB-50 is not)and cost less than the faulty-functioning Cuisinart. The internet is replete with numerous door complaints on this model. It was interesting to note that one unhappy buyer actually took the oven apart and found the door mechanism unfixable. I called a local small appliance repair facility and was told that Cuisinart, unlike other manufacturers, will not sell any replacement repair parts for its products. The reviews indicate that some angry buyers went to the bother and cost of obtaining replacement ovens from Cuisinart only to discover the replacement units had the same defect. When I called the Cuisinart customer relations office I was told: (1) I should take the oven back to the store that sold it to me and (2) there have been absolutely no design changes to the door apparatus during the course of the production runs. Apparently some buyers were convinced to seek a replacement oven when they were told the door problem had been fixed. Caveat emptor!
Broken door, broken handle, broken case... disappointing... September 8, 2008 MSG Quixo (Santa Monica, CA) I was terribly disappointed with this toaster oven. Within a couple of months the door stopped shutting. The handle cracked shortly after. And one day we were surprised to find the plastic case on the outside cracked. Don't buy this product -- it is a waste of time, money and effort. While we use our toaster oven daily, we are not particularly hard on it. It should have lasted 10 years like our previous one.
Cuisenart toaster oven junk August 22, 2008 Margaret A. Anderson (california) Have never had such a poorly made small appliance. This Cuisinart toaster oven has been a problem since I bought it. Toasts uneven, the door has to be slammed in order to close. The hinges recess into the walls of the unit making it impossible to remove whatever is causing it to stick. Now tonight the back wall coating is peeling off. You would think with all these bad reviews this company would do the right thing and remove this product or redesign it. It's all about the ole corp.. I will never buy this brand again simply because we have a company that is looking the other way.
Damn door August 8, 2008 JR (Brooklyn, New York United States) Bought this almost two years ago, within months the door wouldn't close. Who's paying to ship the defective units back? Me, but whatever. Cuisinart replaced it and assured me they'd fixed the door issue. Within months the door on the new unit stopped working. So I call Cuisinart and they give me a hard time, a lot of attitude, and can't assure me that the problem has been fixed. They offer me a new TOB-50, a new TOB-30 (the one that so many users here have said dies after a short time) or a letter of credit. Who pays to ship the defective unit back? Me, of course. And then I have a credit with Cuisinart. Do I want to keep doing business with them? Not so much, but I also don't feel like throwing it away. Aggravating. And I'd been fan of their products in the past. I assume their customer service people are getting hammered. How else to explain all that 'tude?
