Amazon.com Review All kitchens need a funnel, and this big one does more than simply transfer liquids from one container to another without creating a mess. Inside there's a detachable strainer so solids can be filtered from liquids. Use it to strain out those burned bits from cooking oil so it can be reused, for example, or use when making beer, herb-infused vinegars, or garlic oil for cooking. The stainless-steel funnel is 6 inches in diameter, stands 5 inches high, is dishwasher-safe, and should prove helpful for a lifetime. Hang it by its handle. --Fred Brack

I agree with the others here... October 5, 2008 NoTexasCowboy (Dallas, Texas) What can you say about a funnel? It works, even if it is a bit expensive for what it is. As others have said, the strainer is a bit on the course side, but a coffee filter wrapped around it seems to take care of the filtration issues. Had this been $5-6 I would have given it 4 stars instead of 3.
Sieve not fine enough for oil September 16, 2008 Diana Sanchez (San Francisco, CA USA) I bought this funnel set specifically to save deep fry oil for reuse. While the body of the funnel seems fine, the wire mesh insert has holes that are large enough for floating particles in the oil to pass through. While it does get the bigger stuff out, the smaller stuff remains in the oil, which renders it useless to me. Perhaps I'll do as another reviewer did an use cheesecloth in conjunction with the body of the funnel instead of the sieve, and see if that works. Feels like a bad buy...
There's no better funnel for a deep fryer September 6, 2008 tm (Portland, OR USA) Figured I'd need a funnel after I bought a deep fryer, read the reviews about this one and bought it. A very good decision. I've had funnels over the years but nothing like this. It's large, sturdy, the screen holes are the perfect balance to filter out the large particles and not slow too much. Fits in the dishwasher nicely too.
A good item August 20, 2008 G. Berry This funnel is of really high quality - it's made well enough it might even serve as a sausage stuffing attachment for your meat grinder - that's a joke folks - but it is very well made and I'm happy with my purchase. I wish they made one a little larger, though. This one is just about perfect for filling baby bottles, but a larger model would fit my needs better.
great strainer/funnel June 9, 2008 Mom of Four (Oregon) I bought this at the same time that I bought my new deepfryer for the purpose of straining the oil after each use. I used to use a plastic funnel with a little strainer inside, and it worked, but it was unstable and easily resulted in spills. And who likes to clean up oil spills? The Norpro 5 1/2 inch Stainless Steel Funnel with Detachable Strainer works great for the purpose for which I purchased it. It cleans easily as it is dishwasher safe. I am not disappointed, in the least, for making this purchase.
