Product Description
Easy to set, easy to read with an LCD display, this timer will help ensure your food tastes its best. A glance will tell you, to the second, how much time is left.

Amazon.com Review
The great thing about this timer is not only that it's easy to set, but that the directions for use are printed right on the back in case you forget how. While the timer uses digital technology and an LED display in hours, minutes, and seconds, its unique setting wheel removes some of digital technology's frustration. Simply giving the polished metal wheel a turn or pushing either of the two buttons will activate the timer and readies it for setting. First, the hour space flashes; when turned clockwise, the wheel scrolls up through numbers one through nine, and easily let you backtrack to the number you want by turning the wheel counterclockwise. Next, the minutes place flashes and again the wheel turns quickly from one through 59; same with the seconds. Pushing the start button begins the countdown. Convenient features include pause, last-setting recall, and a pleasant yet firm beep. The oval base of the slanted timer measures 4 by 3-3/4 inches, while the durable plastic face measures 2-3/4 inches across. One D battery is required. KitchenAid covers the timer with a one-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars For me it's GREAT!   May 19, 2008

I read many of the negative reviews and almost didn't buy the timer - but I am so glad I did!
I use it almost exclusively to make tea in the morning and I use the same time setting day after day. It's so simple: now that I've set and used the timer once, I just touch the left button (STOP/reset) - this wakes up the blank screen. Then I hold the right button (START/pause) for about 3-5 seconds until my previously used time is shown. Then I touch START/pause again and the timing starts.
I can understand that this may not be the best timer for someone who needs to set several different times per use -but for someone like me who mainly uses it for the same amount of time every day, it's perfect: solid, attractive, the beep is plenty loud, and it's real easy to use.

1 out of 5 stars Over-engineered device   February 17, 2008

I am online now shopping for a replacement for this timer. Much too hard to set. If you make a mistake you have to start all over and go through the whole cycle. Takes forever. If you don't hit the start button just right it does not run. Picking up the timer to move it or clean under it activates it and it takes a long time to turn off. What were they thinking?

1 out of 5 stars Just plain annoying to use   February 13, 2008

Works well, but takes way too long to set, and I end up using the old analog timer on top of my stove; just for simplicity. Very short review, but typed it up in less time than it would take for me to set this timer to count down for 5 minutes.

5 out of 5 stars First one broke from miss use -- couldn't wait to get another   December 29, 2007

We love this timer. It takes a little patience at first to get used to operating it, but once your catch on it is fantastic. I even took our old one outside to the grill for timing when grilling. It didn't break by falling, that happened many times and it kept on working. It broke when it was knocked into the dishwater -- deadly!! So do be careful to keep it away from the sink.

1 out of 5 stars Simply awful timer!   August 15, 2007

Like the other reviewers have said, it takes WAY TOO LONG to set this timer!! It's like watching grass grow. Seriously... This is my major complaint. It's heavy yes, but that doesn't bug me, it's at an angle yes, which is actually kind of nice. But due to its incredible slowness, every time I use it I curse KitchenAid for letting a bad design functionality get past what should have been caught in their quality control. Shame on them.
