Amazon.com Review
Savor a burst of true Italian flavor at home with this DeLonghi espresso and cappuccino maker. With a durable stainless-steel boiler, two thermostats (for water and steam), 35-ounce water reservoir (which removes for easy filling and cleaning), and two nozzles, this self-priming pump machine brews up single or double shots of espresso in just minutes. As for taste, the machine's `sempre crema' filter holder produces a perfect, caramel-colored crema, the essence of great espresso. Before brewing, a built-in tamper levels and presses the grounds before use; some practice is usually required to tamp at just the right pressure. After brewing, a lever on the filter holder flips up to hold the metal basket in place in order to knock out the used grounds. Three switches make the entire brewing process intuitive: on/off, espresso/water delivery, and steam: the machine preheats cups and filter holder with hot water and also froths milk for cappuccino using a swivel steamer and adjustable steam control knob. An "OK" light illuminates when the machine is fully heated and ready to go. A drip tray under the nozzles holds two espresso shot glasses or cups (not included), and removes for dishwasher cleaning. The machine measures 11-1/2 by 8-1/2 by 7-1/4 inches, and is covered by a one-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

4 out of 5 stars Great latte maker.   September 2, 2008

Great machine, This is my second one. The first made unknown cups of great Lattes and lasted years. It made a trip to Hawaii and back. It finally died but I have no regrets. The second one functions just a well and has a few improvements. It had a little crack in a unimportant area. Not due to shipping as the box was in great shape. It had to happen at the factory. No way am I going to send it back. Great latte's and liked Amazons price and shipping. I can live with a little crack. (:>}

5 out of 5 stars I Love this!   August 2, 2008

I just wanted to put my two cents in on this - I had previously owned a Melitta Espresso/Cappuccino maker that died after 5 years of use, so researched the different brands and decided to give this one a try. I have had it for a couple of months and this makes the best espresso and cappuccinos. It does a great job on frothing the milk as well.. I think one of the things that makes this one much better than my previous one, is that it has a removable plastic water well that I can take out, clean and fill and it will hold enough water to make several coffees - much more convenient than the one I had before where I had to add water for each coffee I made. So, I know you can spend a lot more money - but this one is a great value and have really enjoy it a lot!

4 out of 5 stars Great machine for the price   July 29, 2008

I own the predecessor of this model for 4 years now... It never failed. Makes great espresso from ground beans, as long as it's "Turkish ground" and freshly roasted. Actually I often use ESE pods (that device came with ESE pods filter)and keep the kitchen clean and my wife happy. Using ESE pods is tricky as I found it hard to find good tasting espresso pod (one hint, go with Italian made pods and off brands seem to taste better then the famous ones).

2 out of 5 stars Worked GREAT... while it worked.   July 8, 2008

Well, this thing was FANTASTIC for the 6 whole months that it worked. Now it appears the pump is shot - i can't get enough pressure to push through the coarsest of grinds.

I'll try customer support tomorrow, but have very low expectations.

------------UPDATE-------------

After trying to de-scale with vinegar, which seemed to aggravate the problem, I bought some generic Kroger coffee pot cleaner, and some CLR in case that didnt' work.

With coaxing (letting the pump suck water, then air, then water, about 40 times) it finally ate through whatever build-up was clogging the whole thing.

I'm now gonna blame super-hard water and too lax a maintenance schedule (all on me) for the device's failure.

Properly maintained, I'd give this thing 4 stars, only other gripe is the leaky wand, which is really not that big of a deal. If you wanna make coffee, yer gonna spill some water anyway.

Recommend for the price range - although I did get it at a store that rhymes with Barget for about 30 bucks cheaper than i'm seeing it here.

4 out of 5 stars Mistake in shipping makes review difficult   July 5, 2008

This product was sent to the wrong address-- one that was on file with Amazon and even tho I filled in the correct address it was changed in transition to the vendor. Be very sure to double check the address on your order when it is confirmed! As to the product, I was replacing a espresso machine that I have had for 4 yrs and this is the exact duplicate of my original so I would have to say that I am very happy with the product especially for the price. Now I just have to wait until I get to the address it was sent to to be able to use it.
