Amazon.com Review
Keep warm during the cool months while conserving energy with the Solaris Oil Radiator Heater from industry leader, DeLonghi. Solo, the radiator heater best serves 12-by-14-foot rooms and smaller, proving itself handy as a cost-effective alternative or accessory to a central heating system. The inclusion of a GFI plug affords safe radiator use in the bathroom to combat the shocking chill often experienced upon stepping out of a steaming hot shower.

DeLonghi crafted the radiator in Italy, using rustproof metal for even heat distribution and resilience. Extra-wide feet discourage the unit from tipping over. Three power settings allow flexibility for diverse rooms and personal heating needs. For energy efficiency, the heater runs low at 600 watts or medium at 900 watts to slowly spread warmth. On high at 1500 watts, the radiator brings full heat to the room with extra speed. Users direct the room's temperature for comfort with an adjustable thermostat. The thermostat settings range from 1 to 6, with heats increasing in proportion to the setting number. With a 24-hour programmable timer, the heater offers 96 options in terms of temperature, wattage, duration, and activation. An antifreeze function engages should the indoor temperature fall below 44 degrees F, while the heater also automatically shuts off upon knock-over. The radiator employs pure diathermic oil, permanently sealed within for enhanced safety. Though the radiator may give off an unpleasant aroma initially, such odors, while annoying, are harmless and cease after initial use. DeLonghi advises against placing the radiator under a power outlet, outdoors, or near flammable liquids. Avoid running the power line under carpets. Thorough safety guidelines and assembly instructions are included. A limited one-year warranty covers this item. The radiator measures 23 by 17-1/5 by 7 inches and weighs 22.9 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

4 out of 5 stars Good looking heater   March 17, 2008
Triton
I have been shopping for radiator heater for a while before choosing the Delonghi one. It is far better looking than typical radiator founded in Target or Bed, Bath and Beyond. The product is made in Italy not in China like other cheaper heaters.

The dual temperature adjustment and timer is quite useful. However, it does take a long time to heat up the room. I usually set the heater to turn on one hour before I go to bed. However, the room stays warm for long time even after you turn off the heater.

I gave the product a four instead of five because the power cord comes out from the front which is different from the picture shown on Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars Great little heater   November 7, 2007

This little heater did have an odor when I first used it. However, it was fine after that. It nicely heats half my apartment: my bedroom, living room, and small kitchen. It's doing precisely the job I purchased it to do. I am very satisfied. :)

3 out of 5 stars Compact but noisy   May 12, 2007

I was drawn to this product by its low price and some favorable customer reviews, although there were also some negative reviews. We use it to heat a very small bathroom in Southern California. It does a satisfactory job of heating, but it emits an irritating hum most of the time when it's on. It was not well assembled--the plastic casing at one end does not meet the metal body as it should. I expect that I'll eventually buy another heater and relegate this one to the garage.

3 out of 5 stars The smell... the smell!   February 7, 2007

As an expecting mom, I wanted to make sure that our freezing cold bathroom will be warm enough for when the baby arrives. I had read online that the smell was very strong, but alot of the reviews mentioned that the smell subsided after a couple of uses. Well... it has been six days now that I've had the heater on for several hours (with the window open to let out the toxic smelling fumes) but still.... it smells! I said to myself that I'd allow five tries but I'm still hanging about... waiting for the oil smell to go away. The catch is this: it really does seem like a great little heater and takes the edge off our tiled bathroom (which has no insulation). It is also designed for safe use in a bathroom. I certainly won't use it if it still smells and my baby has arrived!
I have rated it three stars simply because of the smell.
