 A nice coffee maker, with ONE Serious ProblemW March 1, 2008

We bought a Delonghi DC51TT because we wanted a small coffee maker that drew little power and could be run through a 12 volt DC to 110 Volt AC invertor on our boat. The DeLonghi draws just 550 watts and does not have a hot plate, when it is done brewing it cuts off completely. But the lid on the carafe does not screw in, it is held in by a silicon rubber band that fits very very tightly. My 65 year old arthritic hands could not pull the lid off the carafe, or get it back on properly. When I tried to twist the lid, the silicon rubber band broke, rendering the carafe useless. DeLonghi's customer service was very responsive and sent me a new carafe but the problem is still there. When the carafe is modified, this will be a great coffee maker. But, until they improve the carafe, I can not recommend it.

doesn`t live up to claim of keeping coffee hot for short period of time. Cools off too fast!

In reading the reviews most people did not know what features they wanted, and then complain about it. This coffee brewer does a great job, I don't mind no timer, I just get it prepared the night before, and push the start button when I'm tracking around the kitchen. Because of the quick turn off after the brewing cycle who needs the timer, just adds to the price. The special lid does leak when it's cool and I believe that it is made that way. Easy to remove and clean when cool, but as soon as hot coffee is in the mug, the lid expands and has no leakage. If you wait the full cycle before lifting the lid then you won't get burned by the steam from the dripper. Some People did not like the #2 cone but they do make #2 gold cones and I believe you will find them here on Amazon. I'm totally pleased, a great coffee maker for the right price.

Have had this for a good 6 months now and am very pleased with it. I use it daily I am the only one in the family that drinks coffee regularly so the 4 cup is perfect.
My last coffee maker was glass and got broken during cleaning one fine day and after doing a lot of research I went in for this.
The auto off feature is very useful as I brew coffee before I leave for work and I can just get my coffee and leave. The Carafe keeps the coffee hot for quite some time.
What would I like added to this...possibly some electronic timer controls...but really at this price range not sure if it would be possible. A reusable filter maybe.

I have used it for 2 months, it is great to make a small pot of coffee rather than use the 10 cup. I recomend it.
