Simple and easy cup of coffee October 5, 2008 L. Hamilton (Georgia) I got this to replace an identical model (except color) that had "died". I like this coffee maker because it id simple and makes a great cup of coffee. Too bad they discontinued it.
happy buyer October 3, 2008 D. Anderson (san diego) I love everything about this coffeemaker. It is the perfect size, quiet, easy to program and makes a great cup of coffee. The only tiny thing i don't like (and i am a little extreme) the hot plate could be a bit hotter. It is a great temp for DH but i like mine HOT.
Very Good Coffee But....... July 18, 2008 G. Esq 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this coffee maker for approximately two months. It makes good cups of coffee and is reliable and easy to clean. However, it does have some problems. The most serious problem is the design of the handle that allows the heat from the pot to come up at the point where the lid is hinged to the handle. There is no warning on the pot and there is no evidence of escaping steam to warn you about the danger at that point in the handle. As a result, the unknowing or distracted user can be easily burned. The other issues I have listed below with this coffee maker are not dangerous - just annoying. First, the digital display is not lighted and hard to see, which makes the machine hard to program. Second the water level display is hard to read because of small print. Furthermore, the water level does not register until it has almost 5 cups of water and then rises very quickly on what seems like small amounts of water. However, if you fill the water chamber with fresh water from the pot, it is much easier and more controllable. The coffee produced is good and the machine keeps its hot. If it were not for the problems listed above, I would give this coffee maker a 4.5 star rating.
Do NOT buy this!! April 24, 2008 Edward Blackburn 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This coffee pot makes the coffee takes awful...I don't know what it is in the material that it is made from, but the coffee tastes like metal.
Just about perfect coffee for very little $$$ January 29, 2008 L. Richard (Bay Area, CA USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
At this price level, most coffee makers are terrible. This Delonghi model seems to be one of the rare exceptions. I've had it for over a week now and I'm very pleased with it. The Good: -Well designed carafe. When you pour a cup of coffee, it doesn't spill everywhere like some makers I've used in the past. Additionally, it's proven easy to clean -Fairly solid design. While not bullet proof, the maker as a whole seems sturdy, with one small exception (see below) -The "Aroma" setting is AWESOME. I've owned many coffee makers in the past and it always takes quite a bit of grounds to brew a pot that's strong enough for me (I like my coffee almost espresso strength). Not with the Delonghi! just put in the grounds, pour in the water, hit "start", then hit the "aroma" button and in 15 minutes you've got yourself coffee that's (at least) twice as strong as coffee from a regular maker The Bad: There are only two problems I've had with this maker (and I must stress that they are very MINOR) -When fully open, the tray for the filter does not quite clear the top of the maker. As a result, you have to tilt the filter and mess with it a bit to get it free of the machine. Additionally, the filter is sometimes a little tricky to get back in, but once you figure out the trick to it it's a bit easier -The spring that holds the "pause and serve" lever in place seems cheap and looks like it would be easy to break (it hasn't broken yet, so this is just an assumption). This isn't a really big issue for me as I never use this feature, but I know that some people do. On the plus side, the spring is easily accessible, so if it ever did break or come loose, then it would probably be easy to put it back in or replace altogether Despite these minor problems, the Delonghi coffee maker performs like a champ (indeed good enough to still earn a 5 star rating in my eyes). The good far outweighs the bad, and I'd recommend this maker to anyone who just wants a simple, well-made machine for a decent price.
