This impressive appliance is designed to be easy and safe to use, clean to operate and wash, and it produces exceptional food. It delivers on all accounts. The detailed instructions lead you through the process of heating oil to the correct temperature, then lowering the frying basket into the oil as the lid remains closed. This means that odors and mess are kept inside the fryer. A built-in digital timer times the cooking or can be pre-set; a viewing window lets you check on the food while it's cooking. Safety is built in--the sides of the fryer remain cool, and the hot oil stays inside. When the food is done, raise the basket and serve. The 2.2-pound capacity accommodates ample french fries, calamari, or tempura for four. The whole process makes surprisingly nongreasy food because the oil is heated evenly to the correct temperature. DeLonghi gave careful attention to cleanup. A tube unfolds from a hidden compartment and efficiently drains the oil so that it can be used again--a system that's both easy and sanitary. This item is wonderful, I have had this product for three years and use it weekly. I like the fact that it keeps the smell down when you are frying foods. The only thing I suggest is that you get an extra filter. I would recommend this product highly.

My mom bought this for my wife and I and it is a good fryer. God forbid if you ever need a part or repairs. Delonghi customer service will NOT send you a part directly, and they have very limited number of "Authorized Service Centers". I live hours from the nearest one and they still wouldn't send me a simple part. They want me to ship it to the nearest service center, pay for a repair and then have it shipped back which will cost almost as much as this fryer. I'm getting a different brand instead. On top of all of this the customer service rep. was snippy and rude.

....for a better one.After few weeks of use,I still got oil coming from the back of it when in use!!!!....even if the oil level is between the lines.Frying process is fast.

This fryer is wonderful. It comes with great features. I especially like the fact that after you fry the food and lift the basket to let it drain, you can keep the lid closed and keep the food warm, until other items of your meal are ready. The fryer looks great and dresses up any countertop. The cool touch plastic outside is a plus.

This is my second deep fryer. On the first one, the heating element burned out - bummer.
The DeLonghi is great. The outer shell stays cool to the touch so after using it, while the oil is still hot, I can move it off the counter, out of the way, without fear of burning myself.
The timer is a good feature. And the visual gauge for how long to cook the food is a plus.
When I go to clean it or change the oil, the rubber spout quickly removes the oil into a large pan I put into the sink. Then I dispose of it and wipe the inside thoroughly with paper towels. Viola! Ready to refill and get back to frying some yummy chicken tenders or crispy french fries or battered fish.
I will have to agree with another reviewer, however, that the filters are hard to find. In fact, I've never replaced mine due to that reason, but it still continues to work satisfactorily. And yes, I use peanut oil.
You'll like the DeLonghi. Buy one.
