Big disappointment September 3, 2008 J. Swenson (Oregon) Delonghi AD1099 Product ordered August 11 and arrived today September 2. Not too unreasonable. Unpacked, plugged in, turned on. Silence. For those of you who have convecton ovens, you know the sound of the fan running. Not a whisper. Now have emailed seller to see about REPACKING and TAKING TO A UPS center. Good grief I'm angry and frustrated. If I had wanted all this extra effort and mess, I'd have picked one up at a store. Will let you know if there are any additional problems.
The Delonghi rotisserie convection oven is great! August 14, 2008 teop.peace I have owned this particular model for 2 months now and i love it. I owned a non digital predecessor for 7 years and i used it almost every day. So far this one produces the same quality of food (good). This one has the added benefit of being digital. The oven is quite big and you can fit a bundt cake quite comfortably. I have also roasted a chicken, cooked a brisket, and baked pizza in this oven. if you are like me and are in a rush in the mornings, you can wait until you get home, throw your frozen chicken pieces inside, and they will come out very moist. This does add to the cooking time though. The oven is reasonably quiet when in convection mode. I find the convection setting does shorten the cook time on most items. Bear in mind that this is not a microwave so that the time you save will be small compared to a microwave. However, it cooks food far better than a microwave does. I have also cooked a three layer cake in this oven, but was only able to put in up to two layers at the same time, which was fine for me. When i make homemade biscuits on the convection mode, they come out fluffier and moister that with a regular oven. (As I said, I use this oven a lot.) I owned a toaster oven prior to the convection oven and the convection oven was a big step up. This wont take the place of a conventional oven but it will come in a nice second. I use this instead of my regular oven as it tends not to heat up the house as much in the summer. ( in Texas that means a lot!) All-n-all i am very pleased with this product.
Great product, perfect for cooks. May 2, 2008 B. Cantwell (San Francisco) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this product for a couple of years now. I use it almost exclusively instead of my large oven. I bought six-cup muffin tins and I bake muffins, I've baked cakes and breads in it. The convection feature is divine, and although it doesn't speed up the cooking, it makes my pastries super flaky and my cakes moist, so I love it. I've made lasagne (8X8 pan)in it. I've roasted chickens and broiled steaks in it. I basically use this oven for everything. Everything but actually making toast, because I have a toaster for that. My only issue with this appliance is the enormous quantity of heat it gives off. It makes me think that it may not be as energy-efficient as the oven, since although an oven is bigger, it's much more insulated, holding in its heat. At any rate, my oven is big and I use it to store my cast iron cookware, and since it's a pain to pull that stuff out, I use this DeLonghi almost exclusively, except at holiday dinners. and at holidays, as another reviewer mentioned, I can bake pies in this, while using my large oven for turkey. This is a great appliance, and I LOVE it.
Best I have had June 14, 2007 Christine A. Piucci (New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the best small oven I have ever had. Efficient, compact, powerful, easy to use and quiet. I had the cuisinart and it was fine for a few years, it was ver loud, and the front cracked apart and within months stopped working. Had the haier for one day and hated it, loud, loud, loud. I have only had the Delonghi one week and already have used all functions except the pizza function. So far I really like it.
Amazing oven! I can pretty much quit using my big oven. April 5, 2007 bluecanary (San Francisco, CA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
We previously had a small Krups toaster oven, which, while very, very good, was not quite big enough for me. It seemed wasteful to heat up the big oven just to bake six biscuits, or roast a medium sized roast, so we went to this model. What a joy it has been. It takes longer to preheat than my small oven, which makes sense, since it's bigger, duh. Who the heck thinks this oven is too small? It's huge! I can easily fit a casserole pan inside. The convection feature is fantastic, my buttermilk biscuits have NEVER been so tasty. I can even bake cakes and things of that nature inside. The door seals securely. I've also broiled duck legs and steaks inside and they turn out juicy. Unfortunately, I bought the demo model, and some of the pieces for the rotisserie are missing. Delonghi has promised to ship them, and I am crossing my fingers it all works out. If it doesn't, you can be sure I will post here, ripping them mercilessly. Additionally, this oven is going to allow me to ditch my microwave, which is great, since my foodie self thinks microwaves are kind of tacky. This oven has basically replaced our big oven, which now is only used for cast iron skillet storage. I don't know how it works for toast, since we have an actual toaster. It seems it'd be rather wasteful to try to use this ginormous oven for toast, but I guess if you were making a ton of toast it would make sense. I highly recommend this product. I rave about it to everyone I know.
