Compact enough to tuck away anywhere on a kitchen counter or in an office, this sleek coffeemaker brews up to four 5-ounce cups with the aid of a convenient, permanent nylon filter. The Krups brewing system brings water to the proper temperature and then pulses it though ground coffee in timed intervals, extracting full flavor and aroma. The brewing process stops for 20 seconds so a midbrew cup or two can be poured. For convenience, the coffeemaker has a swing-out filter basket. A clearly visible water-level indicator runs down the left side of the water tank. Went to the Internet...still not possible to find one...

I bought my first Krups Cafe Express about 8 months ago from Bed Bath & Beyond. I was looking for a small coffee maker b/c I have a small apartment & don't drink much coffee, so this one was perfect. It worked great for the first 3-4 months, until one morning I went to turn it on & the on/off button not only fell off, but sparks and smoke blew out the place where the button once was. I returned it to the store and exchanged it for another one, exact same model (I really like the coffee maker), yet again 4 months later the button popped off and out came sparks and smoke. So needless to say I won't be buying another, it makes great coffee and it fits well in a small kitchen, but this manufacturing flaw makes it really not worth it.

I find the coffee is pretty decent, not great. But the worst thing is that the coffee never gets hot! I always have to nuke it in the microwave, especially after pouring milk in it (even after waiting for the burner to get hot).
I love the small design, it's very cute. I don't find it hard to clean and I haven't had problems with things coming off. Seems like a case of 'you get what you pay for' - I'd say it's decent for the price, but if you're a real coffee fanatic this isn't for you.

I never have the time to write a product review. But, I had to make the time to write a review for this little coffee maker. I love it. It makes hot, fragrant coffee using what sounds and tastes like old school "percalator" means and quality. I've had many 4-5 cup coffee makers in my day, and this one is hands-down my favorite. I love the re-usable basket filter. Read the Krup's and Amazon description and be assured that it works as stated. Enjoy!! (I'm drinking a cup from this little coffee maker as I write this!)
