Amazon.com Review
Does your current hand vacuum lose momentum halfway through what should be a quick cleaning job? DeLonghi's Aspira rechargeable vacuum has a high-endurance battery that holds a charge longer, providing up to 20 minutes of strong suction before running out of juice. This vacuum cleans up concentrated areas of dustbunnies or heavier messes, such as dry food spills or splinters of broken glass, with the greatest of ease. A permanent filter collects all dust and particles and blocks them from getting into and damaging the motor, extending the life of this vacuum. The filter is removable and washable for cleaning, and regular maintenance keeps the vacuum's suction at its most efficient. The Aspira's nozzle is a transparent blue plastic so it is easy to see when the filter is full and ready for emptying.

This hand vacuum includes two useful accessories: a crevice tool for cleaning along baseboards and in-between radiator slats and a dusting brush for furniture, curtains, or carpet. Between jobs, the Aspira stores and recharges in a wall-mountable base, which includes a bracket for the tools as well. Four green LED lights just below the handle illuminate when the vacuum is fully charged and start to diminish in number as recharging becomes necessary. A special circuit in the appliance prevents the batteries from overcharging so the Aspira can safely rest in its base even when it is fully charged. This rechargeable hand vacuum comes with a battery charger plug and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

    1 out of 5 stars Disappointed   January 8, 2007

I have two battery operated vacuums. One is B&D "Dust Buster" and the other is the Delonghi "Aspira". The B&D is by far the better vacuum. The battery charge lasts longer and the vacuum is stronger on the B&D. I think the B&D also has a better filter. I have had the B&D 2 years and the Delonghi 1 year. The B&D is still going strong while the motor has failed on the Delonghi and the battery no longer holds a charge. I noticed fine dust that sucked through the filter on the Delonghi coating the impeller blade. I assume that is what caused a binding in the bushing of the cheap impeller motor.

    5 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   July 12, 2006

I've had this little vacuum for about 6 months now. It's great for little messes when you don't want to get the big vacuum out.
The battery lasts forever on a charge. The only con is that, it's hard to take it apart to empty it out.
Besides that, it's definately worth the money.

4 out of 5 stars Powerful and easy to carry   August 20, 2005

I was impressed with the strength of the suction and with the fact that it hold the charge for a long time. Sometimes pulling apart the top cover to empty the dirt can be difficult. I fear that I may break it since it is only made out of plastic.

    1 out of 5 stars Don't bother   August 16, 2005

Either I got a dud, or this is the weakest darn "vacuum" I've ever used. Basically, I had to hold it upright and drop things into it to get it to "vacuum." Save your money.

4 out of 5 stars Give the Chinese a try   March 12, 2005

After being disappointed with just about every American made rechargeable handheld vacuum, I thought I'd give the Chinese a try (DeLonghi doesn't sound like it's made in China, but it is). I've had it only a few weeks, so I can't comment on long term performance, but I can share some first impressions. The absolute first impression, when I unpacked the unit, was disappointment, primarily with the wall mounting base . The wall mounting base included was not the same as the one pictured in the instruction manual, and the accessory holder (to store the crevice tool and dusting brush) would not click into position on the bracket as intended. The bracket is designed to mount on the wall with two screws, utilizing two pre drilled holes which are a few inches apart on a horizontal plane. Perhaps the Chinese utilize horizontal wall studs which will accommodate such an installation. As far as I know, most of the other wall studs in the world are oriented vertically, which will necessitate some modification of the bracket, or use of mollys, or other jury rigging by the installer. Also, the instructions recommend (sensibly) that the unit should be mounted near an outlet. Since most electrical wall outlets are mounted about a foot above the floor, mounting the unit "near" an outlet means mounting it low, rather than high, on the wall. This unit is designed to mount with the handle down, which is very inconvenient for a low mounting (other units I have owned have mounted with the handle up, a convenient feature for a low mounting). None of this, of course, has anything to do with suction power or battery endurance, both of which seem to be superior to other units I have owned. UPDATE - TWO YEARS LATER: When the unit was about 13 months old (it had a one year warranty), it began to run slower and slower until finally the battery died. A new battery (including S&H) will cost more than $20; whereas, a new B&D DustBuster (including S&H and a two year warranty) will cost less than $35. I just ordered the B&D!
