The Penguin Does Not Suck Like Other Humifidiers, DFW Texas December 2, 2008 Gift Card Recipient (Flower Mound, TX USA) Prior to getting the penguin, we bought the Hamilton Beach 05518 True Air Cool Mist Humidifier that was comparable in price and we hated it. It was very loud and didn't disperse the mist well. It was also big and ugly. We were so disappointed in it that we decided to get another humidifier, and settled on the penguin. I was weary of it because many of the reviews said it produced a lot of white dust, but decided to give it a try anyway. It works wonderfully and we are very happy with it. We have had it about a week and it has basically run non-stop without any problems. We live in the DFW area of Texas, and haven't had any trouble with white dust here. I guess our water must be pretty soft, but if you have hard water and notice the penguin produces white dust you can either use distilled water to fill it or get a demineralization filter. The humidifier is very quiet and easy to fill and clean because it isn't large and cumbersome. We have it in the bedroom of our newborn twins and it doesn't bother them at all. It's cute, and disperses the mist very well. There is a knob you turn to set the mist flow, and my only complaint is that it doesn't have an indicator arrow on the knob so you don't know where you've set it. I'm so pleased with it I'm going to get another for our bedroom (I think its capacity is best for a single room).
its hard to stop a train December 2, 2008 narf (Charlotte, NC United States) Works beautifully. Love the green lights that turn red when the tank is out of water. the night light is a cool blue that is not too bright. It is no louder than any other humidifier I have owned and provides nice white noise while the baby is sleeping. If you are looking for an inexpensive humidifier for your child's room take a look at crane.
CUTE December 1, 2008 S. Sattiraju (usa) Its cute and works great. But not as effective as i wanted it to be.
So cute... so cute... buh bye November 30, 2008 Jenearly Ang (Long Beach, California) I usually get sinus headaches during this time of year, and this little cute guy works like a charm. I love watching the mist come out. the only downside is that I wish it can hold more than 1 gallon. It lasts longer than it says it does, and that's good.
So far so good November 29, 2008 Kate in Vegas (Las Vegas, NV) We purchased the green frog humidifier about a month ago. It seems to work very well and is plenty potent for our daughters 11x11 room. A couple of things I noted: you do have to clean the base to get rid of some build-up (weekly works for us). Also, the base can get too full of water...While cleaning, I filled the frog head with water, put it on the base, and walked it to the room. By the time i made it to the room, the base had filled up with TOO much water, so when i turned it on, it wouldn't run (actually it ran but no mist came out). So, to correct it, i just emptied the base, put it back in the room and put on the frog head (full of water-like a normal nightly fill). After a few "glug glugs" it worked great again.
