Amazon.com Review
The Impressa F90 from Jura-Capresso combines fine-coffee know-how with touch-screen technology, an Aluframe structure, and honest-to-God Internet connectivity. Like Jura-Capresso's other top-of-the-line models, the Impressa F90 is fully automatic. It grinds, tamps, brews, and steams with the touch of a few icons on its control panel. Designed with both exacting standards and user preference in mind, the machine is pre-programmed at the factory for excellent results. It can also be tailored to your specific tastes for coffee strength, water amount, temperature, and steam quantity. You can also customize the separate hot water function for bespoke cafe americanos. Purchase Jura-Capresso's connectivity kit separately and you can even store individual coffee-drinkers' preferences in the F90's electronics.

Built for power, the F90 uses a 15-bar pump and a single 1450-watt ThermoBlock heating unit lined in stainless steel for a flavor-neutral, corrosion-resistant structure. The six-stage conical grinder, also made from stainless steel, delivers consistent results, while the patented brewing unit creates the ideal pressure conditions for perfecting crema. A pre-brew system moistens and conditions grounds for maximum aroma and flavor. The F90 has several self-maintenance features, including automatic rinsing, cleaning, and de-calcifying functions. Other handy extras include an illuminated cup area, adjustable coffee spout, and multi-language display. The water tank holds 64 ounces, while the bean tank stores 7 ounces. Designed for the countertop, the machine measures 11 by 16 by 12-1/2 inches. --Emily Bedard

Product Description
The Impressa F9 is a state-of-the-art automatic coffee center with unique touch screen technology and easy-to-view two-line multi-color LED display. A gentle touch of the illuminated control panel lets you select the cup of coffee you want. The coffee brewing illumination adds an extra touch of elegance. With its striking, heavy duty 3mm thick chrome alloy front, a chrome plated die-cast coffee spout and a stainless steel grid, the F9 looks as good as it performs. It is the ideal coffee center for the hi-tech kitchen or the executive office. Taste is as individual as you are. With the F9 you can brew five different cup sizes in two aroma and three strength settings. Just touch start and the F9 does the rest. It grinds from 5 to 16 grams of coffee, and brews from 1 to 16 oz. of coffee. Choose between two temperature settings. For Cappuccinos and Lattes the Dual Frother Plus lets you steam and froth your milk exactly to your liking. You can even froth the milk right in your cappuccino cup and then add a shot of espresso without delay.

1 out of 5 stars Shoddy quality, horrible customer service   June 20, 2008

Capresso appears to have only one Repair Center in all the U.S. (in Pennsylvania), and any repair requires shipping the unit at your expense ($150) and a few weeks waiting for it to be serviced.

Mine broke down several times. Twice from compacted coffee grounds in the grinder, and the last time from a dead water pump -- all within weeks of warranty expiration.

You can get as good or better a cup of coffee from a Senseo. I fell for the hype and the promise of quality from a high price tag, and now I have a very expensive door stop.

1 out of 5 stars Excellent Coffee but a Back Door For Hackers (yes I'm serious)   June 18, 2008

This is an attractive and very functional espresso machine with an impressive amount of settings to ensure you get the kind of drink you want out of it. Granted though, it is about $1000 more than other machines that will offer most of the same features and produce similar quality espresso. The only real difference between this model and cheaper models with similar features and quality is the chrome finish and the internet connectivity feature. I have used this machine before, unlike some of the other 1-star reviews. I do like it as an espresso machine I must admit. How can I give it 1-star then? That's because it's an open invitation to identity thieves and hackers.

While an espresso machine that can request maintenance on its own sounds pretty neat, this is actually the source of the 1-star rating I've given it. The internet connectivity feature (which requires software to be installed on a PC on your home network) allows remote hackers to alter settings on your coffee maker. They could change the temperature, flow rates, etc. possibly to the point of damaging the machine. They can also gain remote control of the PC you installed the software on. While this sounds like a fun source of pranks for the hacker, it makes for an over-priced coffee maker that's sounding more and more like a dangerous house-guest.

Leave this Trojan horse outside the city gates and get a more reasonably priced model. It does what it does well, but sadly that includes letting hackers into your kitchen. Consider the same brand's less feature-laden versions for example.

1 out of 5 stars This can be hacked by outside attackers   June 18, 2008

People can compromise your coffee maker and take over your computer as a result. Coffee isn't worth that risk.

5 out of 5 stars simply the best coffee   February 3, 2008
Terri Carroll, Carroll Anesthesia (Vandalia, Il)
We have had this machine for 1 week now, and the machine performs flawlessly. The coffe is the best I've ever tasted. Much better than starbucks, and faster too. The expresso has a perfect crema and switching to a latte couldn't be easier with the xpress plus system (actually turns the F9 into the more expensive Z5. You will not be disappointed in this machine. Could be cheaper but like they say "you get what you pay for" I liken this machine to some of my swiss watches - flawless workmanship and fine quality.
