Product Description The beauty is in the ease. This state-of-the-art machine forces hot water through ground coffee at the optimal speed and pressure necessary for velvety espresso with a perfect crema every time. Easy-to-use features include: cup warmer, one touch operation, water bottle adapter and a unique water filtration process that expels used water. Filters and tamper included. Two-year limited warranty.
Amazon.com Review Just by looking, it's not hard to believe this automatic espresso machine won The Chicago Athenaeum's prestigious Good Design 2003 award. But, in addition to the sophisticated modern styling, the machine's many innovative features make it easy to brew great-tasting espresso, cappuccino, and latte drinks. To take the guesswork out of making the perfect cup, the Granos offers a fully programmable control panel. Set it to accommodate individual preferences, or choose a single or double espresso by simply pushing a button. There's also the option of using either regular ground coffee or the popular pre-packed espresso pods. The Bodum Granos' ThermoBlock heating system ensures the correct water temperature for extracting the coffee's full flavor, while its unique water system expels used water rather than letting it flow back into the fresh-water reservoir. A 19-bar pump, dual-wall filter, and a stabilizing baffle in combination ensure a consistent, correct release of pressure. Its filter holder and handle are made of chrome-plated brass, and all internal and external components are made from metal and high-quality electrical parts. Additional features include a cup warmer, a steam wand for making cappuccino and latte drinks, and an adapter for attaching bottled water directly to the machine. A tamper and single, double, and pod shot filters are included. This espresso machine carries a two-year limited warranty. --Catie Unger

Worthwhile Love Affair August 10, 2008 ytellmey (Pasadena, CA) Purchased after a Krups $39 espresso maker, the Granos was definitely a step or two up. A five-star beauty. I've used it every day, sometimes twice a day, often for many people for 2 1/2 years now. Dozens of different coffees and blends have been savored. There have been pressure and leakage problems, but I found the trick is to keep it clean with either a commercial or a homemade (cream of tartar) flush. This eliminates most leaking or subpar performance. While it seems the cleanings are becoming necessary more often as the machine ages, it's been definitely been worth every penny. Hopefully it will last as it will be hard to replace such a beauty.
CAUTION: This machine has known leaky design flaws March 28, 2008 Chris Letourneau (Newport Beach, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
CAUTION: This machine has known leaky design flaws which BODUM chooses to ignore. I purchased my machine January of 07 and was infatuated with my machine functionally and aesthetically until it began to aggressive leak from the tank above during the process of making espresso just nine months after purchase. After returning the machine (very costly shipping) to an apathetic outside contractor of Bodum that provided absolutely no technical information or help, the product was returned to me a month later only yielding one shot of espresso before it started to pour out the seams from the tank once again. CAUTION PEOPLE. This machine is tantamount to a sexy woman with no substance inside. Gorgeous looking design but with a huge design flaw that dates back to the conception of this product in 05'. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY or be tricked by the provocative sexual curves of this machine. Shame on Bodum for not making the necessary changes in their product when an obvious design flaw exists. According to my research, the average machine lasts 4-6 months before starting to leak. A $ 500 machine should work for at least 3-4 years. I advise anybody who is interested in this product to do some research online. The results are astounding...
Great Machine but very delicate March 24, 2007 Faisal Sultan (San Francisco, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an awesome machine and it looks hot in your kitchen. However, unless you plan on using it only sparingly, don't bother with it. I live and breathe espresso, so I used it at least three times a day or more. It worked perfectly for about a year and then it just stopped working one day - without warning. Id say if you wanna buy it for the looks and plan on using it only once or twice a week - its a great purchase. Otherwise skip it and buy something like the Rancilio Silvia; which Im planning to purchase to replace my non-working Granos.
Got it replaced. September 29, 2006 R. Tomei Had it for 5 months and got it replaced by a Nespresso LeCube. The Granos looks great but is far too noisy and leaky. I also disliked the fact it discarded the water from the line into the pan making a mess. But it does look great.
Poor Customer Service July 13, 2006 Rodger (Boston) 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
I received my Granos as a birthday present two years ago. As had already been reported here, the machine is great--when it works. I thought I was the only one who had leak problems but most everyone who wrote a review here reported the same problem. Leak from the bottom and leak from the water container. I called customer service to report the problem and they sounded like they've never heard of the problem. They asked me to return the machine but I didn't bother. A good customer service should have already heard the problem before customers call. A $600 espresso machine should last more than two years. I can't believe a company like Bodum is not concerned about its product. I'm buying another espresso machine and it's not going to be Bodum again.
