Product Description This highly polished, stainless steel espresso machine comes with the pressure gauge and superior control of espresso quality that's found only in commercial machines. For use with freshly ground coffee or the exciting and new ESE pods, this espresso machine from Briel is ideal for the at-home barista. The constant 15 bar pump pressure is substantially above the minimum requirement of 9 bars necessary for an authentic espresso, giving you a savory espresso with a perfect crema topping every time. The Briel espresso machine is equipped with patented Crema Master filters for ground coffee or pods and an AquaStop No-Drip system that prevents dripping and the need to "bleed" the machine of any remaining water. There's a filter holder and filter basket for ground coffee and a special filter holder for coffee serving pods. Two thermostats regulate the coffee cycle and steaming process for the pump with a third "safety" thermostat located on the pump in the event of continuous use. A Turbo Jet frother is combined with the Thermo Block technology (a Briel exclusive) to instantly produce plentiful dry steam for a thick milk froth for a cappuccino or latte. Other features of the Briel espresso machine are "OK" light signals that let you know when the machine is ready for brewing and frothing, push button switches, two brass filter holders (one for ground coffee and one for pods), a built
Amazon.com Review Not for the novice espresso drinker or for the Starbucks-style café latte fan, this professional espresso machine is the workhorse type found in small cafes throughout Europe. Think single-shots of thick espresso and small cups of cappuccino, as anything else is beyond the realm of this machine. Briel is Europe's largest manufacturer of pump-driven espresso machines, and its Multi-Pro series is designed to be used with fresh ground coffee or ESE coffee pods, which are small portions of ground coffee pressed between two pieces of food-compatible paper. Coffee pods are packed with the right weight, roast, and grind, so even the inexperienced barista can consistently make great espresso. This machine features Auto Espresso Flow, an adjustable electric timing control that lets you select serving size in advance. One of two filter holders brews two cups of espresso at a time. Other bright spots include the Turbo Jet frother, equipped with a steam control knob and removable cappuccino nozzle; a self-priming pump fed by filtered suction and water return tubes; a cup warmer; a removable drip tray and grid; and a coffee tamper. The removable 2.5-liter water tank also has a water level indicator viewable from the front of the machine. One downside is that the brew head fits so tightly into the filter holder that it strictly limits the amount of coffee that can be loaded into it, which complicates the brewing process when using fresh ground coffee. --Matthew Evans Editor's note: This item may arrive with water inside from the manufacturer's pressure test. This is a normal occurrence and doesn't point to a problem with the machine.

Good machine, but not worth the money November 28, 2006 Rhonda White (AZ) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my 3rd machine in the 13 years I've been making my own espresso. It wasn't worth the amount of money it cost me. I did get a lot of use out of it. At first it worked just fine. So I guess I got my money's worth. The brew head is very hard to get to. The brew head is way too hard to clean and leaks no matter how much or how little amount of coffee I use. The machine leaks water a lot now. My main complain with the machine, the brew head is not good. For the amount of money this machine costs, it should be better.
Nice Machine with excellent CREMA! October 14, 2006 Chen Yang (New York, NY United States) I had a krups machine a year ago and it started to leak right after the warrenty expired. Then I bought this machine; the crema is way better and the espresso is fine. Water leaked from the fliter when I didn't lock it up, but it worked fine once got handy. I didn't find Auto Espresso Flow very useful though. Overall very good machine.
Don't be misled by Briel rep. write-ins February 17, 2006 Mark (Seattle, WA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Briel's espresso machines are complete junk. I had the same problems the others reviewers state. After reading the complaints about the service center and how you pay shipping both ways for warranty repairs, I have decided to junk it and count it as a lesson learned
Not worth the $$$$ December 31, 2005 Builtmany (Scotch Plains, NJ United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This machine's instructions are awful. There is almost no explanation of anything. A 7 year old could write a better manual. After starting the machine is is noisy and vibrates like a tin can when operating. The machine is also impossible to adjust for the exact cup size. It also leaks water after it stops brewing, now I know why the drip pan can hold so much. It leaks more with the ESE pods than regular grinds. The flavor is good but is is just not worth the money. Most likely sending it back ASAP.
Nice try... March 22, 2004 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
If you know anything about the art of pulling a shot of espresso -- forget this machine. The ESE adapter is junk. If you like quick poor shots this machine will produce.
