WORST ESPRESSO MAKER - DONT BUY - HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE TOO November 18, 2008 Sr -. Corporate (los angeles, ca) Horrible machine, the espresso comes out like water, it overheats and gets jammed all the time. The frother leaks water out all the time, and the parts are impossible to replace because the customer service for DeLonghi is absolutely horrible. I ordered a part in February of 2008 and I still have not received it yet, supposedly its backordered. Backordered for 9 months? Come on! If you buy an espresso machine stay away from DeLohnghi products.
I like this unit, it works. April 20, 2008 isadore fist This EC460 unit works as advertised and is designed to take advantage of pods. What it does not do is accept two pods in its large basket. They fit but they swell and the pump does not have the pressure to do two. Consequently I make two singles into my travel mug each morning, it takes only a few minutes and no mess or guesswork. Also have found that some coffee pods work better than others. Lavaza works fine and provides a very good experience. Have used filtered water and no problems with any buildup or off flavors. Glad to have saved the difference in price, can't believe I am missing much from more expensive models.
Great machine for the price February 20, 2008 DCVoyuer (Washington) I have had this machine for 2 months and have had great results. It is not the fastest but then you are not paying $2,000 to buy it. Buy the Krups 20 oz milk holder. It is perfect for this machine. Ignore the idiot who said something about sharp edges, he must work for the rival company. The steamer works great once you get the hang of it. Make sure to wipe the steamer "immediatelly after" so there will be no buildup. The rubber latch on the expresso handle is for tapping against the edge of the sink to get the used grounds out. If the grounds are too fine then the machine will not be able to pump enough water through. If they are too big then the creama is watery. Experiment and you will get a great creama with a nice brown foam on top. I use the same coffee as my coffe shop, but I believe that I have better tasting results. For mochas use 1 tea spoon Ghirardelli hot cocoa mix blended in with the creama. It will give you that great "lite" chocolate flavor without overwhelming sweetness/chocolate flavor that Starbucks like to sell. It has a lot less calories also. It is not a small machine its is about 18 inches tall so make sure you have room.
Look no further, this is the one! December 28, 2007 Family Man (Memphis, TN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This espresso maker was recommended by a friend and he wasn't kidding when he said, "The espresso and the Lattes taste just like St_rB_cks". This machine is extremely easy to use and simple to maintain. DeLonghi makes a high quality product at a very reasonable price. I am "Mr. Frugle" and I couldn't be happier. I prepared a delicious latte on my way out the door and it only took two minutes. I recommend buying a stainless steel frothing pitcher for your milk. Buy the kit at St_rB_cks. It contains two shot glasses, thermometer, coffee scoop and the pitcher. Enjoy!
I love this machine! October 30, 2007 P. J. List (New Mexico USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
That's it, plain and simple. I do love this machine. It's been in my home six months now, has broken in well and makes as good as, or better, espresso than I can find in any shop in town. The crema is plentiful and so is the foam, and the taste of the coffee is ambrosia. A couple of suggestions, though...when it arrives, throw out the coffee pods that ship with it (horrible!), and invest in a good coffee that you can grind and tamp, yourself. And...if you live in a hard water area as I do, use purified water in ANY machine that you purchase, to cut down on scale buildup and improve the taste of your java.
