The DeLonghi Combination Espresso/Coffee machine is an all-in-one machine that can brew coffee and espresso simultaneously. This machine can also prepare a great cappuccino, latte or hot chocolate for the perfect drink. The patented instant froth dispenser lets you add froth right in the same cup as your coffee or cappuccino. This machine features programmable digital timer that allows you to set the machine to turn on at a later time and even sets to the exact minute. The Vario system and Accuflavor selector dials allow you to choose the strength of espresso and coffee just the way you like it. The 10 cup Carafe allows you to make enough cups of coffee to keep everyone satisfied and the Drip Interrupt feature lets you have a cup before the pot is done brewing.

3 out of 5 stars Good Coffee - not so good milk steamer   July 2, 2008
coffee snob (Mesa az)
This makes good and FAST regular drip coffee. The espresso maker makes good coffee - but so slow - and the milk steamer is just not user friendly. We have used it a few times - but went back to using our hand-held frother after about 5 trys. We really wanted a good milk steamer - but didn't get it with this one!

4 out of 5 stars Misleading MSRP   June 25, 2008

This is a great product so far... I bought it at a local shop for $115.00 new. Amazon's price is only a handful of dollars beneath the listed MSRP on the Manufacturer's website.

1 out of 5 stars Worst working latte maker   June 16, 2008
M. Orgolini (kauai)
The latte foaming piece on this coffee maker has never worked since we purchased it. When we complained and were sent a replacement part it was missing a crucial piece and they still have not replaced it. We purchased this coffee maker for its latte making foam ability. Alas, we have had the machine for almost a month and still cannot make foam.

3 out of 5 stars Instructions a bit confusing   May 23, 2008
M. Robertson (Planet Venus)
I just received this machine today and took about an hour using water to figure out the instructions. Maybe I had a long day and could not understand how to make a cappuccino portion. I looked for that cappuccino button for a long time. It is located on the expresso side together with the strong/light flavor knob. When you start making the expresso, be really quick to turn this knob at the right timing to froth the milk.
A bit inconvenient. I also want to try pods because it was messy to clean up. Coffee grinds everywhere ... My first cappuccino was ok, a bit strong but need more milk. I do prefer lattes, and would love to lean how to make them.

3 out of 5 stars Great coffee, great espresso, phooey on the foam   May 12, 2008

I bought this unit to replace my Krups combo unit, which served me well for many, many years. I read all the reviews before I took the plunge. There must be something I missed.

It makes excellent coffee.

It makes excellent espresso.

But oh man, that foamer is a dud. Some days it makes decent crema. Some days it makes milk with a few dying bubbles. We have experimented, doing the crema separately, doing it on top of the espresso, cold milk, super cold milk, washing the foaming unit in cold water before using, varying the freshness of the milk... I'm sure there are more variables we have tried. Results: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

We've only had it a couple of months and are DESPERATE to buy a unit that works as well as my poor old Krups did, in its prime.

If anyone has found the foaming secret, PLEASE tell me because my cappuccino and I are very sad most mornings.
