Amazon.com Review This is the blender of the future. It performs all the traditional blending tasks (crushing ice for margaritas, thinning ice cream) plus it can be used like a food processor (mincing garlic, puréeing peppers). The wide jar is rounder and squatter than old-style blenders, which makes it easier to reach in and scrape the sides (when the blender is off!). To reduce splatters of strawberry daiquiri, the Step Start feature starts blending slowly, then picks up to the chosen speed. This blender also comes with a booklet containing 75 recipes--my favorite is the Frosty Chocolate Raspberry Latté. --Dana Van Nest Editor's Choice:KitchenAid's five-speed blender has a number of functions that set it above the crowd as our choice for best blender under $100. It starts with the five speed settings and the pulse function, which works at any of the speeds--a really nice touch. The blender's 40-ounce glass jar has a squat shape, making it more manageable than taller blenders, and comes completely apart.
Product Description Whirl up a fruit and yogurt smoothie and get your morning off to a healthy, energizing start. Or wind down after work with an icy cold margarita. But that's just the beginning: chop ice, grind coffee beans, puree soup and more.

Love It July 9, 2007 L. Ladison I was skeptical about purchasing this blender due to the split of likes and dislikes. I decided to purchase it anyway and searched high and low for a cobalt blue blender because my Kitchenaid mixer was cobalt blue as well. I am soooo glad I took a chance and purchased it. I love it. I had an old plastic blender that my mom gave me. It was loud and smelled like it was burning every time I used it. This Kitchenaid works great. It does a great job on a thick barbeque sauce I like to make. It even made great smoothies. I just threw some frozen strawberries in the blender with some milk and honey and hit liquify and it zoomed away. The smoothies were great and the kids loved it. They have requested the smoothie for their afternoon snack ever since. I am now on the hunt for a Kitchenaid hand mixer in cobalt blue as well so I can color match my kitchen LOL
Blender is great March 4, 2006 T. B. Grant (Orange, CA) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love the color best of all, but in any event it's a great blender. 4 instead of 5 because it's a little tough to take apart
smoothies not so smooth April 7, 2005 K. Couch 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
although this blender is beautiful, mine wasn't able to perform even the most basic of blender tasks adequately. despite several minutes of full-speed blending, it left a banana smoothy full of banana chunks big as marbles. even my old $25 blender could handle a soft banana! as decor, it's fine, but as a blender, it doesn't cut the mustard (or the banana).
$100 RIP OFF--Rubber Coupling's a JOKE February 20, 2005 Jemima 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
We purchased the 3speed version about 4 years ago. I was so excited, as our Kitchen Aid mixer has been wonderful. From the beginning, black gook accumulated under the container. And now, although hardly used, like everyone else, the rubber coupling teeth shredded apart, ruining my dinner (I was making pureed soup of cooked carrots), and getting black particles all over my counter. I called Kitchen Aid, and the lady seemed to be ALL to familiar with this problem, and tells me I can send it to a repair center, the closest being a two hour drive. I am SHOCKED that this can happen so easily and so quickly with a $100 blender. I would NEVER buy one again, and would certainly read other people's reviews of other blenders before making another purchase. People are shelling out a lot of money for the name brand, and they're being ripped off.
great job with mixed drinks, pureed soups October 1, 2004 M. Hughes (Wisconsin) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This blender makes wonderful, icy mixed drinks! All of my previous blenders struggled with effectively crushing ice, but I haven't had a problem yet. I also love the wide mouth jar for pureeing hot soups. Cleaning the base is a breeze with the soft touch smooth buttons -- no spaces between buttons for dirt and dust to hide. The cord wraps nicely in the base. Overall a great design.
