Happily making toast.. October 11, 2008 Kristine (Seattle Wa.) I bought this toaster mainly because i wanted it to match my other KitchenAid appliances, and also because it had pretty good reviews. I don't have any major complaints about it so far, it does the job, and it looks great. I couldn't find this model in stores, in the color I wanted, but Amazon had it, and at a great price. If I discover any problems later on, I'll update this!
Where is technology when it comes to toast and bagels? August 2, 2008 Donald Griesmann (Grand Island NY USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Where is the technology so that we have something close to perfect toast and bagels (T&B) every time regardless of our different views of that perfection? This is a good toaster, not a great one. After reviewing toasters all over the place this one seemed close to being "The Answer". But it isn't. It has, as we say, a big footprint. It is simply big and takes a lot of room on a small counter. It is not consistent in making T&B. While it is the best toaster I ever owned, that is no great complement. Surely there is a professor or a student at one of the tech universities or a manufacturer who could "git 'er done".
Toasting Made EZ July 19, 2008 Todd Thorne (The Woodlands, TX United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Thinking about what you might want in a toaster, namely: a) consistent doneness across the toasted item b) repeatability, one toasting cycle to the next c) accommodation of various size products to toast d) simple controls e) reasonable counter-top footprint f) outer shell coolness - safe to touch g) ease of cleaning h) appearance I'd say this KitchenAid rates fairly high on the above criteria given my 5 months of use so far. We make extensive use of the Bagel button to brown the inside surface of bagels and muffins without torching the outside. And on the occasional high demand days, it can experience 3 - 5 back-to-back toasting cycles, without a hiccup on criteria b) above. My chief gripes would be: 1) tall items escape browning on the topmost strips (perhaps about 1/6th of a typical bagel surface) 2) narrow slots - my prior toaster had ridiculously wide slots that would do justice to a healthy sourdough slice 3) fingerprint smudges readily show in addition to crumbs that fleck off around the slots 4) a bit wide and somewhat retro-looking The above items are very livable, at least for me, and do not detract from the toaster's overall performance.
Great Toaster! July 16, 2008 Andrea Karney (Pittsburgh, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I recently bought this toaster I was replacing a Tfal toaster I'd had for several years. I was getting frustrated with my Tfal toaster because it wasn't toasting evenly - the top of the slice would be toasted while the bottom would just be hot bread. I am happy to say that this Kitchen Aid toaster toasts very evenly. It's easy to use and doesn't have alot of bells and whistles, but it does well the job it's intended to do. I love Kitchen Aid products and this is no exception - I highly recommend!
So Far, So Good June 30, 2008 Food & Books (Illinois) I bought this toaster for my husband after he complained that ours was "tinny, hard to clean, toasted unevenly and couldn't hold a bagel." This Kitchenaid product solves all of these problems. Its adjustable size slots hold any product upright for even toasting. We've only used it 10 or 12 times, but we like it so far.
