1 out of 5 stars Less Than Half A Star   February 27, 2010

Buying this machine I thought would be a blessing and solve many kitchen problems at once. Instead, it has been a nightmare.

After using the machine several times, I decided to make chicken meat loaf. Within minutes, my machine was smoking. I had to open the windows and leave the room. The fumes were noxious. I attempted to restart the machine later and it simply would not work.

The real nightmare began when I contacted customer service. I contacted them over five times before the manager of customer service contacted me. That was only after I emailed them threatening to go to my attorney general's office and other consumer advocates. He arranged to have my machine, in its entirety, picked up via Fed-Ex. I gave them a month to contact me after the unit was picked up and then I emailed them.

They accused me of not contacting them and following through with sending them S&H for a new motor. A new motor without the accessories to use it? Duh! How is that supposed to work?

Needless to say, this situation remains unresolved and it has been five months.

My recommendation on this unit is to not buy it. Buy a food processor, such as Kitchen Aid or Cusinart. I wish the food processor I had when I first married twenty-five years ago was still functional. I used that machine until its blades broke and I could find no replacements. It lasted twenty years!

1 out of 5 stars Warranty Not Honored by Manufacturer   February 12, 2010

After using this machine to slice a cucumber, the machine stopped working. I consulted the manual and saw that there was a one year limited warranty on the product. I called the manufacturer in order to have the broken parts replaced. I was told (after being on hold for 25 minutes) to fax them my bar code number, contact information and the names of the parts I needed replaced. They informed me that I would be responsible for the cost of shipping and that I should call back in two days (they needed to process my information and get me in their system) to provide my credit card for shipping charges. I called in two days time and was told that my warranty was invalid as they could not verify my barcode. Then I was sworn at and hung up on. I called back and was told that since I purchased it from a third party vendor on Amazon that I was not the original purchaser. After an hour on the phone, it was agreed that they would send me the replacement parts and that the shipping (normally $20) would be waived as my machine broke within the first 30 days. I was told to call back in two days in order to get a tracking number for my parts. Foolishly, I called to get the tracking number and was told that my warranty wasn't valid and that I could buy the parts, etc. When I finally got a supervisor on the phone, I was told the same spiel (SIGH!). He told me that there are counterfeit units on the market and that perhaps I had purchased one of those. Then he told me that Amazon had probably ripped me off (NEVER has that been the case in all my years shopping Amazon). He did however, offer to sell me the parts at the low, low price of $120 (could have a new one for that price). I hung up (after being ont he phone for 2 hours) with elevated blood pressure and contacted Amazon. Amazon was terrific and is working with me to get the vendor to take back the defective unit. When I contacted the vendor, I was told that since I used the machine and it broke, the manufacturer should honor the warranty. They did state that if it hadn't been used, they would have taken it back.

1 out of 5 stars The Bullet Express needs to be shot. I'm taking mine back today!   February 12, 2010

It is supposed to be 3 machines in one. So lets break it down and talk about "each" of the machines.

Meal Maker (that means slicing and shredding)

Pros: Easy and quick to use. It's pretty cool that you can shoot it straight into the bowl or pot.

Cons: Only 90% makes it into the pot. 7% ends up on the counter or floor. The other 3% stays in the machine. You have to take it apart to get more out (notice that I didn't say everything out).

Meal Mixer (food processor)

Pros: The food processor exists

Cons: The first time I tried to puree potatoes it over heated and cut off. I served chunky puree that night. A week later I pureed 3 plantains. That was successful. But come on, this thing is not powerful enough for boiled potatoes?

Juicer:

To tell you the truth, after the experience with the first two "machine capabilities" I realized that I don't want to waste my money juicing in the thing.

Conclusion

Great commercial, but doesn't deliver. In the commercial they made meal after meal after meal. They must have switched the machine every time because in the manual says that you should not use it more that 3 minutes consecutively. If you do it will over heat. After it over heats you must unplug it for at least an hour. That's ridiculous!

Its a rip off.

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money   February 10, 2010

Went through two of these before I learned my lesson. I should have read the reviews first. The first one had a defective juicer. Along with the juice you also got bits of black plastic. Returned that one for another and decided to try the meatloaf recipe that came with it. On the online video, they drop two big pieces of turkey in and it grinds it up in seconds. I cut my turkey up into 1 inch chunks and the motor wasn't powerful enough to process it. It kept overheating. The motor is just too weak. I guess you get what you pay for. I ended up buying a Kitchen Aid food processor for a little more money and am extremely pleased with it. You don't get a free juicer but you get a processor that actually functions.

3 out of 5 stars Shredding 8 seconds--Clean up 8 MINUTES!   February 4, 2010

Shredding and slicing does take only seconds, but the washing, drying and putting it back together takes more time than using my cutting board, which I can rinse and put in the dishwasher in 8 seconds. If you put the many, large Bullet Express pieces into your dishwasher there's very little room for any other dishes! Their TV commercial makes it look like so much fun, but they don't show how much time it takes afterwards for all the cleaning hassle. And I cannot remove the double blade to clean under it or put on the other single blade. It fits so darn tight that it cannot be removed with your fingers. They provide a lifting device to remove the blades, but they don't work. My husband couldn't get the blade off either with their handy-dandy tool. My 20 year-old GE food processor blades screw on and off with no trouble...I'm glad I kept my old food processor, I'll probably use it more than my new Bullet express. I haven't attempted to use the juicer part yet, the darn thing scares me! Too many pieces to clean, and I don't employ a maid. Do you?
