Product Description
Cut thick slices of apple for pies, or veggies for stir fries. Slice potatoes thinly for homemade chips, or cabbage for cole slaw. Shred carrots for salad, or julienne, or cube, or dice. With a helpful set of instructions and three cutters, this machine yields professional looking, uniform results, at great speed and without much work on your part.

Amazon.com Review
An inexpensive alternative to a professional stainless-steel mandoline, this device makes it possible to quickly, uniformly, and safely slice and julienne vegetables and fruits. It also shreds cabbage and neatly dices potatoes, tomatoes, and onions. For safety, a holder firmly grips food with stainless-steel prongs so fingers are protected from the German surgical-steel blades, and the three inserts accompanying the device lock in position. The inserts act as a guide for slicing against the V-frame's knife that reverses to create slices either 1/4-inch or 1/16-inch thick and two julienne inserts for creating 1/8-inch or 3/8-inch strips. For storage, the V-frame, all three inserts, and the safety holder fit into a caddy that can stand upright on the counter, lie flat in a drawer, or hang on the wall. Made of rugged plastic, the device measures 15 inches long and 6 inches wide when assembled for storage. --Fred Brack

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Product   August 18, 2008

For the price you expect a good product, and this is very good. You don't need one this expensive though. I love mine, and the locking mechanism is a great feature, but it doesn't lock the other blades, so it's not entirely "safe." Needless to say, I keep it far out of reach from my children. A mandoline is so great though, and every kitchen should have one! You can make "spaghetti" out of zucchini, and slice veggies paper thin for great texture. If you can afford it, get this one. If you are more strapped for cash, get the OXO one, it'll do the job too.

3 out of 5 stars Good Mandoline for the Price   August 17, 2008

This is a good mandoline for cutting soft vegetables, but it has a hard time cutting potatoes. The hand guard is not made for holding potatoes well and they keep slipping out of the holding tines. I did use it to cut cucumbers to make pickles and onions for a julienne fry, but it takes more muscles to cut potatoes or cabbage. It is easy to clean by just rinsing it off after use, but it doesn't store well as there is nothing to hang it with apart from a v-shape that is near the middle of the back of the holder so it hangs out from the hook I tried to hang it on.

5 out of 5 stars Great Slicer   August 16, 2008

Terrific product at a fair price. Compact design, and slices everything very fast saving quite a bit of time during prep. I can't figure out how to cube effectively but I'm pretty sure it's user error.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent product, Good Value   August 15, 2008

I am very impressed with this slicer. I bought it as a substitute for a much more expensive mandoline I own that is currently packed away. It performed very well for the task I needed it for (5 lbs of potatoes for scalloped potatoes). The storage box that it comes with is a bit odd, but it does protect the blades and is reasonably compact. We'll see if the blades stay sharp, but for the price I won't even care if they don't last forever.

5 out of 5 stars Love this thing!   August 6, 2008

I just bought this product a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE IT! I have owned a $200 mandoline for the last 15 years and I HATE that thing! I never take it out to use because it is so big and cumbersome to use and wash. This thing is the exact OPPOSITE of that! It slices and juliennes BEAUTIFULLY! It is also easy to clean and store and is a fraction of the price of the stupid stainless steel ones. Don't waste your money on the fancy one, get this and actually use it! You won't regret it.
