Amazon.com Review This SmartPower blender by Cuisinart has all the qualities of a great blender. It's powerful, easy to use, sturdy, and efficient. The tight-fitting cover can be pressed on without turning or twisting it into place, and we found that it did not leak even under heavy use. The 2-ounce pour lid allows you to measure and add ingredients neatly without removing the cover. The 40-ounce glass jar has a wide mouth to allow chunky ingredients to be poured. The locking ring is self-aligning, so the glass blender jar slides easily into position, and the leakproof rubber gasket holds the glass jar snugly in place for safe operation. High-quality, patented stainless-steel blades are strong enough for all bar blender tasks, from crushing ice to puréeing fruit. The heavy-duty motor base is strong enough to crush ice without liquid and is backed by a three-year warranty. The seven-speed touch pad control with indicator lights is easy to use and offers great versatility and a range of blending power. The pulse button allows you to pulse at any speed, for tighter control as you blend. --Jane DePaolo

HORRIBLE! June 7, 2008 Glen Wolfe I got mine and it didn't even turn on! I wish you could put - stars
More of the same... got parts? May 31, 2008 blenderchild Had this blender for a few years. NOT heavily used. I had the same problem as others- plastic wheel under the cutting assembly (that screws onto bottom of the blender jar and spins the blade) now spins freely... Cuisinart makes you buy a whole new cutting assembly ($15). (If you have one you're tossing out, please let me know ;) Obviously, this was a poor design/quality choice by Cuisinart. They should stick to food processors...
Piece of crap. May 16, 2008 mayflyaway I probably have used this blender 6 or 7 times. I wanted to make a smoothie for breakfast this morning and it broke. I was very surprised and disappointed. Yes, it is the same part that everyone else seems to have a problem with, the clutch assembly, cracked while trying to chop frozen berries. I thought about getting a replacement clutch assembly but since reading these reviews I don't think I will bother. I guess I will just get a different blender altogether.
Black plastic, blade assembly cracked. Bad design December 31, 2007 vidd (USA) Black plastic, blade assembly cracked. Bad design. Looks good, blends good, crushes ice good, finally breaks for good. Spend your money on something different
Piece of junk October 3, 2007 Vicky (Bethesda MD) I was thoroughly disappointed with this blender, which labors to make a milkshake and cannot even puree a banana + a few frozen strawberries in fruit juice. Although it had been 8 months since purchased and I couldn't find the receipt, I took it back to Linens N Things and begged for a store credit which they were kind enough to provide. Definitely going for the Oster next!
