1 out of 5 stars Big disappointment   October 2, 2008
Rachel (Seattle, WA, USA)
One of the first appliances I replaced when returning to the States after having lived abroad for almost 20 years was my much-used SEB Yogurt Maker. What a disappointment this Donvier machine is by comparison! The Donvier makes the pleasure of homemade yogurt tedious and annoying...one might as well just make yogurt in the oven. With the Donvier, the milk must be preheated (?!) to a specific temperature and then left to cool (?!) before filling the plastic (?!) cups with ill-fitting lids, the cycle is interminably long, and the consistency of the finished product is unappetizing. What a contrast to the SEB -- add one plain (homemade or commercial) yogurt (and 1/4 cup of fruit-flavored syrup) to a quart of cold milk, swish a turn or two with a whisk to mix, pour into the glass (!) cups, let the machine run for 8 hours then pop on the perfectly-fitted lids and refrigerate. Surely there must be a 110V machine out there somewhere that is as easy to use and that yields the same commercial-quality results...

5 out of 5 stars Easy way to eat healthy!   August 31, 2008
J. Griffing (Medina, OH USA)
Fruit-on-the-bottom commercial yogurts taste great, but what's that corn syrup doing in there? With the Donvier yogurt maker, I know exactly what goes in my yogurt and I can add whatever ingredients I want: fresh fruit, honey, maple syrup, homemade strawberry jam. Prep is simple, and a single batch makes enough yogurt for a week's worth of breakfasts.

The only thing you have to think about is the timing. Since the process can take 10+ hours, you need to plan ahead so you're available to put the finished yogurt in the refrigerator when it's done.

2 out of 5 stars yogurt maker   August 31, 2008

I received this yogurt maker as a gift. I have had a few and don't find this one to be any better than the regular salton machines. The cup sizes are about 6 oz each and the lids are cheap and crack easily. I am disappointed to have traded an old salton machine that I bought at a thrift store for this fancier model. I would've been better off ordering lids from salton and keeping what i had. I do not recommend this product.

5 out of 5 stars I like this machine   August 26, 2008
Martha Weaver (Texas)
I made my first batch of yogurt in this machine and found it to be simple, and the yogurt turned out excellent first time. Just follow the simple instructions and there should be excellent results!
I started with 2% natural milk, fresh from the store, and Greek style plain yogurt for starter.
Creamy smooth yogurt in every cup!

I liked this machine; it makes 8 containers. The only thing I don't like is that the tops are hard to get on and off.
