Great Product! November 28, 2008 Janine Randall (Scituate, MA USA) Have always wanted to replace an immersion blender that I had for years. This one is much better then one that was replaced. Used correctly this should last for years also. It's not a 'grinder'....it's an immersion blender. So instead of taking hot soups etc. out of the pot to blend in a conventional blender....you can just put this right into the pot and presto! So much easier than the older way. :o) Also great for smoothies, baby food, and the whisk attachment works great also. A lot of uses for the price and well made. Just rinse the blade under the tap and you're good to go!
Broke in 4 months November 24, 2008 S. Morris (Fairfax, VA) The plastic part which spins broke in 4 months and now it doesn't work. For the first four months, I loved it.
Indispensable kitchen tool! November 19, 2008 Scrapbooker629 (WA, United States) What a genius tool! I originally bought this to blend hot soups without the dangerous and tiresome task of pouring scalding soup into a blender and making an enormous mess. Little did I know how quickly and easily I also could blend smoothies, make whipped cream, and chop veggies! Yes, the manual says only to run the motor for a certain number of seconds at a time. But as the other reviewers have indicated, it only takes a few seconds to chop or blend, so there is little danger of overheating the motor. The stick attachment is a breeze to clean - just a tiny drop of soap and a good rinse in hot water and you're done! Much better than the traditional blender with its numerous pieces to be disassembled and washed. I've made smoothies with large chunks of frozen fruit and even ice. As long as there is a little liquid in the bottom of the cup, the blender does just fine. The chopper is my least favorite attachment. The top "lid" part of the chopper can't go in the dishwasher (or be immersed in water), which is annoying if you chop something like onions and want to get rid of the smell before chopping something else (such as nuts). That said, it's still useful if you don't mind the inconvenience of cleaning it. The whisk works well--almost too well, as the attachment jumps up to speed so quickly, I've managed to spatter a bit of whipping cream almost every time. But if you use a deep bowl with tall sides, you should do well. Most recently, I've been using this blender to make homemade baby food for my daughter. I just steam or roast organic fruits/veggies and then quickly blend with this great little tool. Fresh baby food couldn't be easier! This makes great homemade applesauce as well. I cook down a bunch of sliced (unpeeled) apples in a slow cooker with a little water and lemon juice. Once they're soft, I blend right in the crock and enjoy delicious, high-fiber applesauce! If you're looking for a versatile kitchen tool that is easy to store, get this item! I use it more than any other kitchen appliance, including my mixer and larger-size food processor.
Awesome tool November 18, 2008 Bunson Honeydew (White Plains, NY) This is one of the handiest tools in the kitchen. I have to be honest, I really don't use the attachments because I have a powerful Kitchen Aid food processor, a Cuisinart mini-chopper, a realtively powerful Cuisinart blender and a decent electric handmixer. The unit itself takes up very little space. Obviously the attachments require more room. The main event here is the immersion blender. With the included measuring cup, you can use it to make single serve protein shakes. My wife and I use it to make soups, specifically to thicken vegatable soups. Many soup recipes call for pouring the soup into a blender, and then returning it to the pot after it is blended. This blender allows you to blend it in the pot. We've also used it to make thick sauces. Recently we tried it when we made our own cranberry juice. We used it to blend up the "popped" berries. The recipe book has great ideas, but I'll be honest I haven't use them. So if you don't need the chopper and wisk, save some money and just get the blender. If you are saving space and want a blender and chopper, buy this one.
Save your money, this is poor quality November 11, 2008 mirdin (Boston, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Save your money and invest in a better immersion blender. The teeth that connect to the different attachments are made of plastic - and they have worn off after only a few uses. None of the blades will spin now, regardless of which attachment you are using - rendering the blender completely useless.
