Product Description In new colors like Onyx Black, the KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus Series stand mixer is tough enough for commercial use yet is made for the busy home chef. It's equipped with a high-performance motor that mixes up to 12 cups of all-purpose flour per recipe. It powerfully churns through double batches of cookie dough and yeast dough with ease. Durably made, the Professional 5 Plus Series stand mixer from KitchenAid is made for commercial-style use with a direct drive, all-steel gear transmission that delivers unyielding power for professional results. To help protect the motor, it has an internal sensor that shuts the mixer off if it becomes overloaded. An electronic speed sensor monitors the operation to maintain precise mixer speed from start to finish. The all-metal stand mixer is powered by a 450-watt motor and comes with a 5-quart capacity, stainless steel bowl with a wide mouth and sturdy handle. The KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus Series stand mixer has a 67-point planetary mixing action - the beater spirals to 67 different touch points within the bowl for quick, complete mixing, a feat no other stand mixer in the industry can match. As far as versatility, the Professional 5 Plus Series stand mixer ranks high with 10 speeds (from very high to a very low stir), a Soft Start feature that helps prevent splattering of wet ingredients or "puffing" of dry ingredients, and a coll
Amazon.com Review Thirty percent more powerful than KitchenAid's previous 5-quart stand mixers, this professional model efficiently tackles heavy loads with its 450-watt motor, direct-drive all-steel gear transmission, and bowl-lift lever that effortlessly raises heavy ingredients up to the beater. KitchenAid stand mixers, constructed of durable die-cast metal, come in a variety of colors and styles that have become American classics. With a choice of ten speeds and three attachments--flat beater, spiral dough hook, and stainless-steel wire whip--the mixer handles everything from egg whites to meat loaf to pizza dough. Rather than rotating the bowl, KitchenAid stand mixers feature a fixed bowl with a unique mixing action: the beater spins clockwise as the shaft spins counter-clockwise, thus projecting the beater to 67 different points inside the 5-quart stainless-steel bowl. In deference to its power, the Soft-Start feature prevents splashing and flour clouds by gearing up to each speed gradually; then the electronic speed sensor kicks in to maintain a constant speed even when mixing the thickest batter. The bowl features a handle as well as two pins that hook into the lifting mechanism, which consists of a solid metal arm the same color as the mixer and a stainless-steel lever. A hinged attachment hub makes changing attachments easy. For safety, the mixer shuts down if an object obstructs the mixing process or if overloading occurs. The bowl, beater, and dough hook are dishwasher-safe. Assembled in Ohio, the mixer measures 16-1/2 by 12 by 14 inches and is backed by a hassle-free, one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri What's In the Box Stand mixer; 5-quart stainless-steel bowl; flat beater; spiral dough hook; wire whip.

Great Machine!!! July 26, 2010 Donele M. Monte (I waited to write this review to be sure of my purchase)...
After reading many reviews, both negative and positive I took the plunge and bought my Kitchen Aid and I am very happy with it. It came in a sturdy package with not bumps or bruises to the box. I unpacked it and made bread the very same day, it handled the kneeding the dough with out complaint. I only make one loaf at a time (it does take 8 cups of flour though.) So far I've made probably 20 loaves of various types, several cakes and multiple batches of cookies all without issue. I absolutley love it. Time will tell if there are longevity issues but I took an extended warantee just in case.
A Home Baker's Dream July 25, 2010 C. Tobias-Anderson (Anchorage, AK) I purchased the KitchenAid KV25GOXMC for my husband's birthday. He went to school for baking and loves to make creations. We already had a smaller version and loved that as well. He bakes for the Mission, Church Outreaches for the homeless and also for special occasions such as; graduation, weddings, etc. He is looking forward to using this mixer for a long time. It took him a moment to get used to the slow start but, he is very happy with the performance of the mixer. I am even happier because now I get the smaller one to myself, to make normal home baked goods.

This long-standing brand of mixer continues to lead the pack. Very good service and courteous help when I phoned Kitchen Aid for advice/help.
What's not to like - it's a KitchenAid May 10, 2010 JulieK 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Was forced to buy a new mixer when my Hamilton Beach could not be repaired because it was too old (35 years). I spent a lot of time reviewing all the KitchenAid mixers until I decided I wanted this one. Then looked around for the best price and found it here. I am a casual baker, but have really enjoyed the ease of using this machine. I can easily double and sometimes triple recipes without any trouble. It is heavy, but once I bring it out for use, it stays out for a while, and I find myself using it more. Bought the colbalt blue because I couldn't find this model in yellow, but I love it just the same.
