While similar products merely cut the can open, this manual tool also enhances safety and promotes greater hygiene thanks to several innovative features. It's a tiny bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of it, you'll love it. It's a great product. I'm ordering more and giving them as gifts.

Such high hopes, dashed -- I really expected this to be the can opener that worked well and lasted...
It worked fairly well at first, but any can that was even the slightest bit out of round gave it problems, and eventually, it just didn't work well at all -- I just got back from the store mid-chili recipe, because it wouldn't work at all on a can of beans, no matter how many times I went around and around that lip...

We had a cheap safe-edge can opener that was a pain to use every time (wouldn't "grab" the can, would come loose halfway around, etc.). Finally we replaced it with the Zyliss. It isn't intuitive, in that it's different from any other can opener on the market, but hubby and I found it easy to use after the first 2-3 times. We haven't been disappointed by any Zyliss products.

This opener uncrimps the lid and separates it from the can whereas most can openers either cut the lid or the side of the can.
The instructions aren't very good but after using it several times (don't give up) it works great.
