2 out of 5 stars motor runs randomly, can't figure out what's wrong   March 10, 2010
Mr. Umesh K. Dubey (Madison, MS USA)
I will give it 5 stars for juicer functionality, but two start for motor operation. This juicer ran fine first year. Now when I try to assemble all the fruits and ready to juice, the motor does not run fast. I can hear the sligt noise like the motor is trying to run, but it can't run fast to the full speed. After some manouvering, disassembling, assembling, then on/off, the juicer will run and do it's job. But, I am very disappointed, then when I want to make juice, the motor just doesn't run. It ruins my excitement of making the juice. I would say that the machine is very good when it runs, but it is highly unreliable.

2 out of 5 stars A Lot of work from what they portray on TV   February 21, 2010
Avid chef
My wife purchased this thinking it would be a great thing to be able to make natural fruit juice rather than purchase it in a store with all the additives and sugar..which is true, but the way they market this machine on Tv is far from what you actually get. It is a lot of clean up and you constantly have to clean off the blade because it does get clogged so easily. The spout also doesn't make sense because it goes strait out instead of pointing downward which juice gets stuck unless you are constantly putting fruit in the machine, because it doesn't tilt down. With that being said, since it doesn't tilt down it also has a tendancy to spray out when putting fruit in the machine. This is a good machine for getting natural juice, it's just very very messy and a lot of clean up and the pulp catcher isn't anything to speak about either.

3 out of 5 stars Nice Juicer if You Put the Work In   February 21, 2010
L. Daniels (CA)
I bought this after being amazed buy the commercials on tv. The product does work as they describe, but it is definitly a lot more time consuming then they show on tv. It takes almost 10 apples to make one glass of juice! Maybe I did not use the same apples as they do on tv, but it would seem no matter what juice you are making you need a hefty amount of fruit to make a full glass.

The machine is powerful, and it does grind the fruit very well. However, it is VERY loud. On tv you can hear it, but when you have it at home its super noisey. Also, I have had a few occaisions were the motor seemed to overheat and I had to let it cool down before I could use it again.

This is the only juicer I have ever bought so these things may be normal for juicers. It is easy to clean which is the best part about this item.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible Purchase Experience   February 4, 2010
Cindi (Florida)
I purchased this juicer from the infomercial. I have a Juiceman II Juicer (still working years and years later) and the motor is kind of loud. I purchased the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer because it was supposed to be quieter and the chute was larger. BIG MISTAKE!!! I should have known something was wrong when I was asked if I wanted to purchase a refurbished one by the salesperson for a discounted price. I bought the new one and it was not even a month when smoke started coming out from the wiring. I thought it was going to catch on fire. It never worked and they would not answer my questions and I could not ever get information to return the juicer. HORRIBLE PURCHASE! So, I am still plugging away with my Juiceman II juicer that I do love, but am wondering what I am going to do when it finally wears out. I am afraid to purchase again.

1 out of 5 stars Suicidal! Dead in a week!   January 14, 2010
Mia (CA)
It was our 1st juicer and the last Jack Lalanne's juicer we'll ever purchase! Using it felt like abusing an already near-death old man. It was cumbersome to set up and even more so to clean it up after use. There's only one speed for everything from hard veggies like carrots to soft fruits like oranges, and boy O boy I sure felt guilty when shoving carrots down the chute and watching the machine struggle for dear life! When it came to juicy fruits like an orange, it so eagerly swallowed it up and spewed the juice right out of its opens spout down below, uncontrollably, most of which ended up on my cloth. I tried very hard to hold back the urge to return it back to the store thus add more to the land fill; so I decided to make good use of it for as long it could handle. At the end of the 1st week, it chocked on half of an apple, let out a smoldering sigh of sadness of burnt rubber and drop dead. Jack Lalanne's Power Juicer, may your R.I.P. I am sure you are finally where you wanted to be now.
