Product Description Smart brew. Brilliant taste. This impressive stainless steel brewer makes single cups of hot, aromatic coffee at the push of a button. Amazon.com Review The best coffee is always the freshest coffee. That's why it makes no sense to brew by the pot: by the time you get around to drinking most of the joe, it's been sitting in a carafe (or worse, on top of a burner), going more bitter and stale with each minute. The Breville single-cup brewer takes a different tack. It makes coffee one cup at a time, so each cup tastes as fresh as the first one in the pot. Each cup is also 100% customized--by brew temperature, by grind, by varietal, even by cup size--so it's perfect for households or dinner parties in which everyone likes a different brew. Best of all, the brewing process is very, very difficult to mess up. The Breville's patented "showerhead" sprays a precisely calibrated amount of water through a "K-Cup," a technology made famous by Keurig's single-cup brewers, using temperature and pressure designed to extract the maximum amount of flavor from the grounds. More than 150 pre-packed K-Cups are available for beverages ranging from hot chocolate to organic dark-roast Columbian, produced by roasters from Tully's to Green Mountain Coffee. These no-mess, single-use containers are certainly convenient, and they look nifty when entertaining, but they can also get expensive for everyday use. Thus the Breville also comes with the "My K-Cup," a filter that can be packed with any grind (and amount) of coffee, washed by hand or in the dishwasher, and reused as many times as desired. Like all of this company's handsomely designed kitchen equipment, the Breville single-cup coffee brewer is aesthetically gorgeous and feels solidly constructed. It's made from heavy-duty stainless steel with a die-cast safety locking arm, and comes with an internal water filter system to remove impurities that can impart off flavors and smells. A backlit reservoir holds 60 ounces of water and can brew up to 10 cups before it needs refilling; the programmable LCD screen has a refreshingly easy-to-use interface. Also included are a measuring scoop that fits handily (along with the "My K-Cup") into a top compartment as well as a variety pack of 18 different pre-packed K-Cups. The Breville single-cup coffee brewer measures 14-3/4 by 12-3/4 by 16-3/4 inches --Mary Park

DOA October 15, 2008 Stuart Lieblich (Canton, CT USA) Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single-Cup Coffee Brewer Looks great. Went through the priming and setup verbatim. It shook like a banshee for about 10 minutes, then went to heat mode, but never heated the water. Hopefully the return process will be smooth.
My new BFF ... October 12, 2008 L. R. Suffi (chicago, IL) LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT ! I'd marry it if I could. This machine is worth every cent that we paid. There is just no comparision to the cheaper machines, both aesthetically and functionally. It does a fantastic job. It has a nice big 60 oz resevoir, which a lot of the other cheaper models do not have. It is so convenient, that we now find ouorselves making bevvies at all times of the day. Coffee in the morning, decaf in the evening. Although my 4 year old thinks that it is her own personal hot cocoa maker ! Top notch quality too, both the unit itself and its output. Nice looking, I love the blue lights. It even beeps to remind you that the resevoir needs more water (by "you", I mean the "non-filling" spouse) My mom in law loved it so much, I have aleady bought her one for Christmas. The only trouble you'll have with this machine is deciding which of the hundreds of brews you'll try next !
What a great coffee maker!!! October 5, 2008 Pete On Tour This is a fabulous product; one of the best things I've purchased this year. You can get a similar k-cup maker cheaper, but Breville's quality is worth every penny. Not only can you use k-cups for coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, but it comes with the ability to use your own coffee, even it's not available in k-cups. So every few mornings I grind up some Jamaican Blue Mountain and brew a couple of cups. In fact I thought so much of Breville's quality, that two days after getting the coffee maker, I ordered the Breville electronic toaster. Same top quality. If you want the best of the single cup makers, get this one by Breville.
Breville one cup coffee brew September 30, 2008 Gayle E. Negro I like the coffee maker with one exception. It does not fill the travel mug or regular large mug all the way. To get a large size regular mug full you must select the travel mug. I have spoken to Breville about this. Their explanation for the travel mug was there had to be room to put a lid on. However, the large regular mug only fills about 2/3 as does the travel mug.
Good looking product but September 21, 2008 Roberto Irrigation (Middleboro, MA) Good looking product but louder than my 3 other Keurig machines, this is why only 4 stars. Over all quality is great, nice design and great looking!
