Product Description Simple to operate and easy to clean, this Orange X mechanical device quickly and easily presses juice from all citrus fruits. It's made of enameled iron so it's heavy and stable and has suction feet for further insurance against sliding during use. A three-step process--lifting the handle, placing half a fruit on the conical strainer, pulling the lever--is all that's needed to produce a flow of juice into a container on the cup rest beneath the juicer's head. The strainer and basket are made of 18/10 stainless steel. Like the plastic cup rest and the cone that presses against the top of a fruit, the strainer and basket remove with a twist and are dishwasher-safe. The housing wipes clean with a damp cloth. Shapely and compact, the juicer measures 10 inches high, 8 inches wide (including the handle with its rubber grip), and 11 inches deep (including the handle). It carries a lifetime warranty against defects. Works well enough for me March 16, 2008 R. Ziburske I've been using this juicer about once a week for over a year without problem. Granted, it is slightly unbalanced and a bit of care needs be taken when pressing on the lever - and you will press hard - but I've never tipped it. Put your other hand on top to maintain balance. OrangeX also seems to have a quality control problem. I've read several complaints about one of the pivots breaking. Again, mine has seen plenty of duty without problem. The juicer is cast iron and HEAVY. The paint is a thick coat of enamel that cleans easily and still looks good. It has four suction cups on the bottom, two of mine have split and no longer stick. The printing on the chrome wore off. With that said, it still works as intended. Four stars because I got mine for under $75. 2.5 stars at Amazon's price.
Total Waste of Time and Money! January 12, 2008 J. Smith (Portland, OR USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought one of these, and it was a total waste of my time and money. It looks cool, it looks sturdy, but trust me, it is horrible. Because of the way the handle is positioned, the thing tips over (or tries to) EVERY TIME YOU USE IT. Save yourself some aggravation, and just buy the OrangeX mid-size commercial juicer. Same company, but a MUCH better product. I've had one for several months now, and LOVE it. Yes, it's bigger. Yes, it's more expensive. But it'll do what you want - juice your citrus quickly and easily, with super easy cleanup.
Great little workhorse, and an additional working tip... May 22, 2007 J. Ludlow-ortner (Stamford, Connecticut) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was cautious based on the other reviews but decided to go ahead, and am very glad that I did. I find that this little guy fits perfectly into my routine; I squeeze predominently lemons and limes, and quickly discovered one little trick - cut off the thick and sometimes buldging ends that citrus fruit can develop; this allows the fruit to fit evenly within the press, and you will have no trouble pressing the arm down to express all the juice.
juicer March 19, 2006 HUBERT L. COX (Rough River Kentucky) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This juicer is not weight balanced. When you pull down the handel, the juicer wants to turn over. Causes a messy scean trying to make sure it does not flip over. Also did not get any instructions for using the juicer with it's many parts. Had to learn by trial and error, still not completly sure I am using it correctly.
May _LOOK_ sturdy, but looks are deceiving! January 9, 2005 John P. Grider (Orangeburg, SC USA) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
I allowed myself to be seduced by this juicer's unique good looks and vendor propaganda regarding its sturdy cast-iron construction. Well, I juiced exactly _3_ 3-inch diameter oranges. On the 4th orange, a critical cast-iron piece on one of the 2 right-hand hinges broke. Other review comments concerning difficulty of cleanup are accurate. I would add that the metal strainer has edges that seemed quite sharp, making cleanup potentially dangerous. I would not recommend this juicer under any circumstances.
