Product Description Made out of 18/10 stainless steel, it features a gorgeous mirror finish on the outside, and a brushed finish inside. All steel mesh plunger mechanism .
Amazon.com Review By using high-quality 18/10 stainless steel for this French press, Frieling has smartly sidestepped the problem of breakable glass carafes. At the same time, the pot is beautiful, sleek, and sturdy, with a mirror finish and a self-contained design. Plus, with no filters or power cords to mess with, you can brew and serve right at the table. The full-length handle is both comfortable and stable, while the all-steel mesh plunger mechanism can be used with coarse coffee grounds or loose tea leaves. Frieling's double-wall construction keeps hot beverages hot and cold ones cold if you use the pitcher by itself for milk or juice. All parts disassemble to wash by hand or go in the dishwasher. The press holds 33 ounces and stands 9 inches high. --Emily Bedard

Years Later this is my opinion... September 30, 2008 M. Thompson I was reluctant at first. I was not happy with the taste of automatic drip coffee. I had purchased a cheep espresso "Pump" machine, no good. And, I could not afford a real espresso machine. So I bought the Frieling Stainless Steel Thermal French Press. I must say it has been great. It is still in the same shape today as when we purchased it 4 years ago. The coffee tastes great! If you are getting grounds in your coffee, you are pushing the plunger down too fast. If coffee is coming out the spout, you have filled it too full. This is the only coffee we drink in our house. Guests frequently comment on the unique look. Highly recommended 4 years later.
At last - the perfect cup of morning coffee! September 19, 2008 David Stone (Lincoln, CA USA) Been looking for the perfect cup of morning coffee for some time. Tried drip, percolators, even very expensive super automatic expresso makers. French press is the best and the Frieling does great coffee, cleans easily, and looks great on the counter. Also for us klutzes out there, it can't break no matter how often you drop it. Be sure to get a good conical burr grinder to get a uniform coarse grind or else you are not getting the best from the press. As a self described coffee snob, this is the only way to satisfy that urge for the caffeine jones.
The best coffee press, ever, hands down September 16, 2008 Diana Sanchez (San Francisco, CA USA) I love, love, LOVE this french press. It makes wonderful coffee and keeps it hot for *hours*, PLUS it is virtually break-proof. I have literally dropped it straight onto the floor multiple times and it doesn't even have a dent. A scratch from me accidentally brushing it with a stainless steel scrubber in the sink yes, but a dent no. And after a year, it still has a nice luster/sheen to it. What a winner. Before purchasing this Frieling press I thought I was finally at happy state, owning a 12-cup drip machine for lazy days when I just wanted a cup of joe, and two french presses - one a Bodum, the other generic, for when I wanted really good tasting coffee. But I forgot one thing: I am a klutz. The bodum carafe was broken and I found myself replacing it. Once. Twice. Thrice. A whole new press was bought, then broken - again. I switched to the machine and accidentally broke the crafe of that one, too. I realized that I was spending a fortune just to make a decent cup of coffee at home, and was getting injured in the process, also. Something had to be done. Here the Frieling comes in. It is beautiful, solid/sturdy if not a bit heavy, and it makes a cup of coffee like a dream. I am a slow coffee drinker and like to savor each cup, which used to mean the coffee would get cold before I wanted more. Now there is no worry - I can have coffee three hours after I made it (not recommended for you purists) and it is still hot. Also, I've always been careful to stir the grounds when first putting water in over the coffee and right before plunging, but with this press, there is extra security in knowing that the gas will not explode the container. Whoever posted the pic above with the note about the steel mesh is right - it has a smooth folded over edge, which makes it so easy to plunge and to clean. The quality of this press I have not seen anywhere else. It's so easy to clean that I got rid of my machine - why bother with something less than perfection? Now, I get a quality brew with no need to reheat (a definite no-no anyway) hours later, in an unbreakable container. This press is saving me a fortune. I cannot tell you how much I love this french press.
Simply The Best September 15, 2008 Steven E. Hollingworth (Hemet, CA United States) I've tried a half dozen coffee presses and this one is tied with the Bodum insulated all glass press for flavor and economy of grounds but without the egg shell like fragility. This press just makes a great cup of coffee. I cannot recommend this enough. It's also super easy to clean.
Can't be beat... September 1, 2008 Gina K (PA, USA) I wanted a coffee maker without plastic, that could make about up to 4 large mugs of coffee and did not require those messy paper filters that I always forget to buy. This is IT! You grind the coffee fairly coarse, boil the water, add it, put on the plunger and then let sit about 4 to 5 minutes, then press down on the plunger. Voila! Great coffee, no fuss. The pot stays warm about an hour or so. This is not a thermos. Plus, the grounds easily slide out into garbage or sink and you pop the whole thing in the dishwasher and it is clean, sterile and spotless. The simple design and sturdy construction allow it to fit in at dinner table with company. Though it may be expensive, it is well constructed. Am recommending it to my friends.
