once you go KitchenAid you never go back September 26, 2008 lettylynton I got this set from Marshall Field's a few years ago (before they morphed into the cesspool that is Macy's) and have gotten a lot of use out of them. IMO, there isn't anything more useful for a kitchen (besides a good cook) than a practical knife set. And this set can't get much easier or useful. I enjoy this set very much because it includes a wide variety of knives that are all incredibly functional (there aren't any knives in this set that you won't use on a regular or semi-regular basis). My favorite knives is the santoku. As Rach Ray would say, "this is my go-to knife." I use it every single day. If it does get dull I just use the sharpening rod and that always gets it nice and sharp. One of the reasons why I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is not dishwasher safe. All knives in this set must be washed by hand which is kinda a pain. But other than that I really like this and would recommend it for anyone that cooks.
So far so good February 17, 2008 Beverly 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this set on sale for $79. What a buy. This set is very sleek and nice looking. The knives are very sharp. I have read negative comments about rusting. Do not put the knives in the dishwasher or they will rust. This was the best set of knives on the market for the price. I am happy with the purchase. I would recommend them.
A really great knife set. January 27, 2008 Mustang*cat (Wyoming) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have always been a big fan of Kitchenaid so when I found this knife set I was sold, I looked everywhere for the best price and this was it. This is truly a profesional set, very sharp, very well balanced and it comes with the sharpener so that makes it even more helpful. Honestly, it is built to last a lifetime and I hope it does, I am very pleased with this purchase!

Now, I use to think knifes were just knifes, until I bought my first KitchenAid block-set. These things cut through anything. I recently moved, and gifted my last set to my sister, and thought I would upgrade to an all stainless steal model. I figured these, being stainless steel, would be dishwasher safe, however, once I received them it said not to use in the dishwasher. That is my only regret, with this set, other than that, they are wonderful, but if you don't like washing by hand, try another set. I washed my other set (with non-stainless steal handles) in the dishwasher, and eventually one of the handles cracked from the heat, the blades however held up perfectly well. I might still try and clean these in the dishwasher, but for the price, I don't want to chance it. Pros: Sleek looking, well made, sharper than any blade I've used before... Cons: Not dishwasher-safe, only 6 (rather than 8) steak knifes.
