Product Description Forget all that juggling with colanders and a stockpot full of boiling hot water and noodles. Use this scoop to gather your pasta without having to upend the pot. Also handy for retrieving fritters, wontons and so on from oil or broth.
Amazon.com Review Sturdy and stylish, this tool consists of a colander on a handle, forming a scoop that quickly drains pasta, vegetables, and shrimp right from the pot. The colander measures 7 inches wide and 8 inches long, ample for serving a generous portion of pasta with a single scoop, and is squared off at one end so it can scrape the bottom of a pot. Made of polished, 18/8 stainless steel, the colander scoop has a beautiful enamel-like handle with a hanging hole on the end. It's dishwasher-safe and measures 16 inches long overall. KitchenAid says the first year of the colander scoop's lifetime warranty against defects is hassle-free, with a replacement shipped at no cost and without question if a defect is detected. --Fred Brack

I Had No Idea How Much I Needed This .. March 9, 2008 Canthespam (San Francisco, CA) Until I saw a cook use it on TV, I had no idea that something like this even existed. Then I absolutely HAD to have one. I do like it and it has been very useful. I wish that it was a bit smaller so that it could fit into smaller pots. It's great for removing veggies that you are blanching. It takes only seconds to scoop them from the boiling water and dump into to the prepared ice bath to stop the cooking. It's so much easier then lugging the heavy and hot pot of boiling water to the colander in the sink.
Great Versitile Tool August 13, 2007 Lynda Lowman (Bonners Ferry, Id USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As usual, KitchenAid comes thru! This hand-held colander is the perfect size for the older cook. Easy to handle and easy on my old arthritic wrist. And it is good looking also. Wish I had invested in it sooner.
I had been looking for this pasta strainer! June 11, 2007 Savvy-Suz (Seattle) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had seen this type of strainer used while in Italy and also on the Food Network shows a few times. I searched all of the local kitchen shops to no avail. Then I did a web search and found it through the Amazon site. I was so pleased! It's a great kitchen tool that works well for many foods in addition to pasta and is easy to clean. Every kitchen should have one of these strainer/scoops!
Very Handy, Well Made January 24, 2007 Carolyn Rampone (Plantation, FL USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I love my KitchenAid Scoop Colander. It is perfect for straining and it makes lifting a heavy pot of boiling water obsolete. It's sturdy and well made like all KitchenAid products and I find myself looking for reasons to use it. It is a very handy thing to have around and you'll love how it saves time in the kitchen, not to mention it limits burns from scalding water. I really can't cook without my KitchenAid Colander
My Favorite Kitchen Tool March 27, 2006 Ellen Plotkin (Brooklyn, N.Y. USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I love this colander. No more scrubbing the tiny mesh holes of a strainer. Picks up all the big pieces of chicken and vegetables after I make chicken soup and strains the soup. The flat edge is ingenious as you can scrape right to the side of the pot with no metal edges sticking out like a strainer has. It's news to me that the handle isn't enamel and I would never leave any utensil in a hot pot for an extended period of time. I have this utensil for 3 years and it still looks like new. Buy this and you'll wonder how you ever did without it.
