Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
One of the best features of a stand mixer is that you can add other ingredients while the mixing action is occuring. However, it can be a little tricky trying to get those eggs, or that sugar into the bowl, without getting in the way of a moving beater, or without ingredients sloshing outside the bowl. The answer to these difficulties is a pouring shield. The chute lets you add ingredients from a safe distance while the "collar" prevents splashes from wet ingredients and "puff" from dry ingredients.

Amazon.com Review
Suitable for KitchenAid's 4-1/2-quart and 5-quart stand mixers, this shield fits on the mixing bowl to prevent ingredients from splattering out when they're added while the mixer operates. A chute for adding ingredients forms one side of the shield, which otherwise comprises a partial cap for the mixing bowl. The shield is made of rugged plastic and is dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

1 out of 5 stars Kitchen Aid Pouring Shield   September 3, 2008

This one is the wrong size for my Kitchen Aid Mixer. Would like to return it for the proper one. I have a 5 quart Kitchen Aid Mixer.

5 out of 5 stars Who wouln't love one of these?   May 27, 2008

These sheilds are the only way to go with a kitchen-aid mixer. Keeps everything tidy. Great product.

The description says it fits 5 quart stand mixers. I have a 5 quart Kitchen Aid Professional series and it does not fit. I returned it and now am waiting for a shield for my mixer that is on backorder. Better identification would have prevented this problem.

This pouring shield works fairly well; not as well as the old style, but certainly better than no pouring sheild at all!

2 out of 5 stars Not a fan of the two-part shield   February 9, 2008

I've had my stand mixer for about eight years now and I LOVE it. However, I've never been a fan of the two-part pouring shield design. It's always coming apart and popping off the bowl.

I see that Kitchen Aid's Web site now offers a shield that is one piece ($24.99). I think I'm going to have to put that one on my wish list!
