1 out of 5 stars BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT TARGET   August 2, 2008
Shell (USA)

I am appalled at the lack of customer service at Target. I registered a Target List for my housewarming party and my friends and family proceeded to spend hundreds of dollars buying me gifts from Target.

Because of the incompetence of Target employees, many items were not removed from the registry when bought, & as a result I received duplicate items. One item in particular that I received two of was a KitchenAid 3-Speed Hand Mixer for $37.89. I do not need two mixers. Because it was over $30 & I was not given a gift receipt, I was told I could not return it for store credit. I was shocked that such a big deal would be made over a simple request to return a duplicate item from my registry for store credit. It's not as if Target would be losing any money, and it is clearly shown on my Target List as being an item I registered for.

The employees and store manager for the Target in Temecula, CA on Rancho California Road were incredibly rude and smug in their refusal to help me. The manager tried to intimidate me by standing close to me and leaning over me & repeatedly saying there was nothing he could do. I was given the phone to speak with a person who was asked to override the return, and they gave me canned reasons as to why they couldn't do it in a thick foreign accent, leading me to believe they are some customer service phone rep in another country trained to lead customers in circles instead of helping them with their problem. In short, no one would help me, and I was made to feel like I had done something wrong, when I am the customer and I had brought business to this company by choosing to register with it. My simple request should've been accommodated. The $37.89 mixer should've been returned for store credit. That is NOT a lot to ask. Instead I left the store in tears with a mixer I don't need.

The treatment by Target employees has been disgustingly rude. Has Target never heard of customer service?
I chose this company to register with, and basically brought a lot of business to Target, and now I am having that thrown in my face when I want to do something as simple as return a duplicate item from my registry.

I will never shop at Target again and will do my best to make known the disgusting attitude displayed by its employees. It is clear that Target has no respect for its customers.

Whatever you do, just don't buy this mixer from TARGET. They are EVIL.

1 out of 5 stars The Flimsy Wimpy Mixer   December 31, 2007

This product is horrible!!! I have not had it very long and both the beaters are already broken. I did not even use it to make anything tough like cookie dough because it was so underpowered. Do not waste your time or your money on this.

1 out of 5 stars Quick burn out   November 22, 2007

I used it for the second time today. The motor started putting off blue flame and then burnt out. I was putting on final touch on some already mashed potatoes, nothing difficult. Not what I expected from Kitchen Aid.

4 out of 5 stars Great KitchenAid Design   March 2, 2007

We're great fans of KitchenAid appliances and also own a stand mixer and food processor from KitchenAid. We've owned this mixer for at least 5 years. The mixer is nicely designed, with a simple shape that is easy to clean and will not yellow with age. We use the mixer most often for beating egg whites and whipping cream. The mixer is very fast at these tasks because of the design of the beaters and the speed of the motor. It feels very solid in your hand, and does not rattle and shimmy like other mixers. It is a bit heavy, but that is probably part of the reason it feels so smooth when it operates. We have used this mixer for cake batters, but not for heavier jobs like cookie dough (we use the stand mixer for that). If you are looking for something that can replace a stand mixer, you should probably pay a little more and get the 9-speed model. Our mixer broke when we put it into a bowl that was too narrow at the bottom. The beaters got pushed together and the mechanism that keeps one of them in place broke. It is not obvious how to fix it and, at this price, a factory repair would probably cost more than a new mixer. That is the reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Never-the-less, we don't think we can do better than a KitchenAid, though we will probably step up to the 5-speed model to replace the one that broke.

2 out of 5 stars No mechanical problems, but there's just no oomph!   February 4, 2006

We got this mixer for our wedding almost five years ago, and never had a day's trouble with it. So why the low review? The thing just doesn't have the juice I think it should have. Whenever we had family members or friends happen to use the mixer, we're making cookies or whipping potatoes, every person commented on how slow this mixer is, even on the highest speed. I thought they were kidding until I was home this Christmas and used my mother's. I don't remember the brand, it was kind of forgettable like a sunbeam or oster, but man, did that thing churn on the high speeds! Every time I turn mine on now, even on the high speed, I am just frustrated because it doesn't perform like it should for the price kitchenaid wants. I give it two stars because it's always performed the tasks at hand, eventually, and we've never had any mechanical issues. But only two stars because when I start using other's mixers, at friends' and family's homes, I'm extremely disappointed in the strength this little machine doesn't have. It's not even a close competition, and I'm investigating other brands after hearing even the kitchenaid 9-speed mixer houses the same motor as this one.
