I needed a heavy duty mixer for making very thick gluten free bread, which is not kneaded but only mixed with a mixer. I found a good price on this one, but did not realize that it did not have a head that tilted back, only up and down. It really handled the dough well, and that part I really like. But I find it awkward to lift the head up instead of tilting back. The beater is still kind of in the way when trying to stir down the sides or add ingredients. Maybe the other kind would be a little awkward too. My old mixer had a knob that slid the bowl forward as well as a head that tilted. This left more room to add ingredients and scrape the sides. But for mixing power, this one is great.

This is a wonderful mixer! Mine had a couple of spots where it looked like the paint had been dinged, but overall, it is not really noticeable and that is to be expected from a refurb model anyway. It comes with a wire whip, a dough hook, and a flat beater. It mixes ingredients very well and quickly and cleans easily. KitchenAid mixers are known to function for a long time. Based on that, a new model is definitely worth the investment, but a refurbished model is even better! I am very pleased with this purchase!!
