Amazon.com Review
Designed with ease of use and storage in mind, this juicer's pieces fit together like a Chinese puzzle--it takes up minimal space on the counter, and it's a breeze to assemble and disassemble. It also makes great juice, extracting every drop and leaving the pulp very dry; the container includes a special foam strainer, so when you pour out your juice, it's clear and unblemished. The feeding tube is small, but I liked it, because it forces you to cut smaller chunks, presenting less chance of jamming the machine. And the top of the juicer converts to a handy feeding tray. The only problem you'll have with this machine is deciding what you want to juice next--I suggest slices of Gala apple and fresh pineapple, with a smidgen of ginger. --C. Whitney-Ward

3 out of 5 stars Heck of cleaning   October 18, 2007

This juicer needs a lot of parts removed and cleaned and I do not like that.

I being totally new to this juicing stuff didnt want to spend alot of money and wanted something simple, my parents were always complaining about the post juicing clean up with other juicers, but its a breeze with this one, simple to use my 11 yr old frequently makes juice for her school lunches. Picked one up at local thrift store still in the box for 5.99!

5 out of 5 stars More than twenty years and the "4290" is still going strong   November 2, 2006

It's great to have fresh veggie and fruit drinks whenever the mood hits. It keeps me from paying too much for juice prepared by someone else. I have had this product for more than twenty years. It was about the same price then as it was now and I got it as a gift. It's been great owning it. I throw oranges in because it is easier than the regular citrus juicer. Clean up is fine if you wash right away and of course, no problem if you have a dishwasher. All my pieces are accounted for an unbroken. The machine is lightweight but perfectly designed and made in Germany. It was the only small appliance in my house for a long time and it spoiled me to expect that all small appliances ought to do what they should and never break down. It's compact in size and lightweight so it's not intimidating to pull off the shelf.

Is this frugal? yes, it was a gift and a recent consumer review show voted this type of juicer the best although the brand they chose is available for $30 new
Would I have purchased this used at a cheaper price off of craigslist? no

Just started "juicing" and discovered this model is great. Easy clean up, great juice, and easy to use. Very reasonably priced and have tried with 5 differnet fruits and not disappointed. Only drawback, does not come with recipe book. Would recommend to anyone starting out.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent, almost professional grade   October 30, 2005

This juicer is really good. I had initially purchase a Hamilton Beach juicer which turned out to be the messiest kitchen appliance I had ever bought. So I retruned it and selected a Braun based on reviews on this site and my personal experince with Braun products. And this really lived upto the Braun name. Reasons I would recommend this product:
Very easy to clean
Extracts good amount of juice, probably just a little less than professional extractors would do
the tray is very handy
foam separator is not perfect, but does a decent job, if we wait for a few seconds before pouring out the juice

Overall, it is one of the best juicers for household use and I look forward to having fresh fruit juice everyday.
