buy something elseAugust 26, 2008 L. Pisani The lid had a huge crack after the first use. It might still work okay but I haven't had the heart to test it yet. I used the first time on asparagus and it turned out good but not spectacular.

Most reviewers of this item are talking about the benefits of steaming which i agree is great but this steamer is not good. After the tupperware steamer I had for years got damaged in the dishwasher I bought this hoping it will last atleast half as long. Only after a few weeks of using it the steamer looks dull and dingy. The transparent lid is turning yellow. The plate provided to keep the vegetables inside the steamer looks slightly twisted and dull. All this after good care during washing and also I used it only a few times for light steaming less than 5 minutes. I am ready to throw it and buy a tupperware steamer again. By the way the tupperware steamer lasted for nearly 4 years for me and would have lasted more if it did not fall off the top of the dishwasher rack and got burnt by a coil in the bottom of the dishwasher.Do not buy this item the quality is very bad.

I bought this product think I could use it o the stove top, butjit turned out to be microwavable only, but was never marked as so.
It is now sitting in my cabinet collecting dust and I bought a more expensive stainless steel steamer from Target.
Nordic Ware steamerJune 2, 2008 L. Buss(northern Illinois) We've only used this a couple of times but have been pleased with it. We haven't used it for fish yet but vegetables have been perfect. The instructions aren't real clear so we use the fresh vegetable button on the mircowave for a "timer." Definately worth purchasing. We liked the steamer bags but were using them so often it was getting quite costly. This product is the perfect alternative and better enviromentally as well!
