1 out of 5 stars Radiator Performs at well below average   December 30, 2006

I purchased the Soleus Air 1500-Watt Oil Radiator for my wife because she kept complaining about not having something to keep the room warm (to her satisfaction) without disrupting her sleep. Needless to say, this has not alleviated her complaining :-)

The radiator does not use fans and is therefore very quiet. There are small clicking sounds when its internal thermostat clicks on and off but this is hardly noticeable. Very easy to use; has only 2 settings for 600 or 1500 watt.

The greatest disappointment is its inability to generate an adequate amount of heat. Even when used in the study, a small room, it probably only increases the room temp by one or two degrees (and that's after a few hours). If you hold your hands a few inches away from the heater, you can feel slight warmth. Any further away and you might as well be in the next ice age.

I even sent it back and got a new one thinking there was something wrong with it. The new one performed exactly the same.

Save your money and find something else. This heater is not up to the task.

This is an excellent heater. I live in Colorado and have been using the unit in the master bedroom. Very satisfying, warms the room quickly at position 1: 600 Watt. Have not had a need yet to use it in position 2: 1500 Watts. Clean, quiet, excellent!

Just a really poor heater and when you send it back you are charged very high return fee by Amazon. Buy at a local store, returns are a ripoff at AMAZON.

1 out of 5 stars Radiator Does Not Alleviate Bedroom Chill   November 19, 2005

I purchased the Soleus Air 1500-Watt Oil Radiator because I wanted a silent heat source for my bedroom, a heat source which would keep my bedroom warm and not disrupt my sleep. The Soleus radiator turned out to be a poor choice.

The radiator is quiet. It doesn't use any fans. The radiator's thermostat audibly clicks when turning the radiator's heat on and off, but the periodic clicking is not loud. The clicks do not disrupt my sleep.

Sadly, the radiator does not put out an adequate amount of heat. In the master bedroom, where the radiator is located, one might get a one or two-degree increase in temperature after operating the radiator for an hour, or more. I've tried placing the radiator three feet from my bed, which is the minimum distance from furniture specified in the operator's manual. I still couldn't detect any appreciable heat from the radiator.

If you're looking for a good space heater, keep looking! This radiator is not up to the task!
