5 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE GADGET   July 4, 2008
    G. P. (Los Angeles, CA USA)
At first I was skeptical. Replace one of the remote batteries with a transmitter battery? It seemed a little weird and too good to be true even considering the good reviews. But, seeing is believing. This remote extender works great every time. Easy to set up and use. Believe the reviews!

5 out of 5 stars Very good product.   July 3, 2008

This product works exactly as promised. I use it to control my stereo which is located in my living room, from my front porch. The porch is about thirty feet away from the stereo with an exterior wall between them. I am very pleased with this product.

5 out of 5 stars Works great, you might require 2 units   July 2, 2008
    TranImporting.com (Atlanta, GA)
I was using a One For All RF universal remote (incidentally, they have horrible service and an even worse return policy), but the base unit stopped receiving. So, I purchased the Next Generation Remote Extender instead. Not only does it work with my universal, it works with all of my remotes. Originally, I had purchased an extra battery thinking I could use my universal and my satellite remote as backup (the universal controls my TV, stereo, and DISH satellite). However, my TV and stereo was on one RF frequency, and the satellite was on the other. I didn't want to flip the switch on the extender, so I bought two extenders (only cost $6 more than buying an extra battery only) and put one on frequency A, and the other on B. So, now I can control everything perfectly. With the universal, if I'm controlling TV/stereo it communicates with one extender. If I'm controlling satellite, it communicates with the other.

The range on the extender is incredible. I put it in my cabinet UNDER my stereo, and somehow I guess the signal it puts out bounces around and controls the stereo above it. It comes with an IR extender cable, but I didn't even have to use it. Probably my favorite audio/video toy behind DVR.

    4 out of 5 stars I love it!   July 2, 2008

So much better than the crappy leapfrog bouncer I had before. This thing just works! I don't know how, but it does. I have to agree with all the stellar reviews posted earlier. I have the device inside my harmony remote and the receiver inside a closed cabinet. It transmits signals to all of my devices and works flawlessly.

I'd give it 5 stars except that I'm a little worried about how hot the spare battery becomes inside the receiver unit. It's almost too hot to handle when you take it out, I'm worried it might actually catch fire.

Oh, and wait till you see the manual, hilarious!

5 out of 5 stars Great Product - Rotten Instructions   July 1, 2008
    R. Markell
An impressively innovative product that is actually simple to install, reasonably priced & best of all works really well. BUY, I almost rated the product 0 stars for the quality of the instructions. Not only is the English terrible, but even worse, important elements are missing. For example, an item from their web site FAQs ...
    -------------------------------
Can you charge the battery in the RF transmitter sleeve? Is that what the AAA size compartment in the bottom of the receiver is for?
Yes, you can. The smaller slot is for the battery alone, the AAA size is for the battery and transmitter together. Do NOT place a standard AAA battery in the slot. It may damage the charger. Both compartments are for the rechargeable batteries only.
    --------------------------------

Neither the description of the slots nor the warning are in the instructions. In looking at the slots, the natural instinct is to do exactly what they say might damage the unit!! I would have if I hadn't gone to their web site.

I recognize the difficulty in replacing instructions after manufacturing has begun, but that's still not a sufficient excuse nowadays. It would cost very little to have the instructions rewritten & put on the web site as a downloadable or displayable file.

Ok, instructions aside, if you want to have your components (Cable box, DVD, VCR, etc.) inside a cabinet with the doors closed, this is the product for you.
