Microwave is fine packaging is very poor!August 11, 2008 S. Riding(Elk, WA) We ordered this from Amazon.com after a similar one built by Sharp was damaged by water. The first one lost a $100 circuit board that I replaced just over a year, but other than that worked fine until we had a roof leak and the magnetron was damaged. This one is very similar, but is a little nicer looking. When it arrived I could hear some rattling and asked the UPS driver about it. He said the outside didn't show any damage and it hadn't been opened so if I had problems I would have to contact the reseller. When it was opened the glass platter had broken and the pieces were all over the place. They are heavy enough to have gouged the plastic in several places. I should have called Amazon and sent it back, but my wife said we could use our old platter even if it was chipped and try and get a new one later. She was anxious to have the Microwave working again and didn't want to wait the 10 working days to get another. We installed it and it worked fine. I called Amazon and they told me to contact the Manufacturer since it wasn't packed well. I contacted Sharp and they told me to contact UPS which I already had. I contacted UPS again and they said just what they had the first time. So I contacted Amazon a second time. This time they were very understanding and wanted to make it right. They refunded the money the platter would cost. I highly recommend to Sharp they review their packaging and if they don't correct it then Amazon discontinue selling their product. I also want to complement Amazon for making things right even though I feel Sharp was the party at fault.
