Problems only days after warranty expired. December 26, 2007 J. Hall (NC USA) The LCD screen only shows half the numbers. Is it a 5 or an 8? Kind of hard to use the microwave if you cant read the lcd. I bought this just days over a year ago and now it's faulty. Microwave looks nice and functions nicely. There must have been a penny or two pinched on the lcd. I have calculators with the same technology that have lasted for 20 years. It's not a part that can be replaced yourself. So here goes a service call. I'll bet the repair costs more than the microwave. More to come.
Hardly worth the space November 9, 2006 S. Barot (Seattle, WA United States) It's true that this microwave is a space-saver, but that's pretty much all it's got going for it. We received this model as a wedding gift FOUR MONTHS ago. It's already dead, and while it stuck around its performance was sub-par at best. It took twice as long to heat a bowl of soup as our old microwave and that was if we were willing to settle for luke-warm fare. Who know's how long it would have taken if we insisted on eating HOT food.
Nice while it worked October 4, 2006 Bella B (Greater Milwaukee) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This microwave is compact, attractive, inexpensive, and does the job--for as long as it lasts. Mine lasted one year, then conked out. The timer and clock and buttons still work--everything but the carousel and microwave cooker.

My Husband and I are very pleased with this microwave, easy to use and just the right size.

I admit, I HATE cooking over a stove. This is the Twentyfirst Century! So, now we have, Voila! This advanced technology - at least since the WWII era when navy radar technicians used to get fried, occasionally, when someone turned on the transmitter when they were up in the superstructure repairing the antenna! This Sharp R-216FS 800-Watt microwave is a winner. This is the third Sharp microwave I've had and I have to say I've found little to fault with any of them. This is the biggest and best of them although it didn't cost a fortune. For the price, they are the biggest bargain in microwaves, I think. This is my first Sharp that had the ability to change the power level, as some of my 'TV' dinners suggest (tells you something about my lifestyle). Recommended.
