After the fan in our range hood failed, we decided to get this one. The turntable is quiet and so is the fan. Given that these were two major sources of noise in our kitchen, my wife doesn't need to shout any more to get herself heard while cooking.
The installation process was smooth -- the major work was actually installing a new electrical outlet in the cupboard above the hood to power the microwave. This is not as difficult as it sounds, since there was an electrical wire coming out of the wall for the old hood. I just needed to drill a hole in the cupboard above and used a surface mount box + standard outlet from home depot to create an electrical outlet. The rest of the installation took about an hour -- you just need a standard drill and drill bits to make the right size holes. Lifting up the microwave into place on the mounting bracket will require two people. If you dont want to tackle any of this, the local best buy will do it for you for 160. The microwave can be set to vent outside or into the room. We already had a vent for the range hood which was in the right position -- as long as you have a standard sized hood (30 inches wide), this microwave should be able to reuse the vent without any extra work.
One final caveat -- check the space requirements by going to the whirlpool website and downloading the installation instructions.
