3 out of 5 stars good oven with some problems   November 27, 2007
K. Walker (Idaho)
I bought this microwave/convection oven in October 2006. It worked just fine. I like the fact that you can program an item to cook for different lengths of time and different powers. For instance, when I heat up a bowl of left overs I program it to cook at 70% for 1 minute, 80% for 1 minute and 30 seconds at 90%. I also use the reheat program quite a bit. Then in about July 2007 I noticed some cracks on the plastic molding along the bottom of the door. It was still under warranty so I called to have it replaced. The repairman replaced the molding but he put the door together incorrectly and I could barely read the screen. He came back and replaced more of the door and the screen was working great.

Then I started noticing that when steam hit the door it got into the inside layer of glass and is leaving the door looking bad but I can't clean it because it is on the inside layer. Also, there is another crack on the molding. I don't slam the door, I am very gentle with the microwave.

Last week I wanted to use the convection feature and couldn't find the button. I got out my instruction booklet and discovered that the replacement door doesn't have the convection button on it! I have no way to use the convection oven!

I have had the repairman look at it. He is going to check with Whirlpool and get back with me.

I like this microwave/convection oven overall but I am frustrated with the problems I've had. I have had good service. I would recommend the oven if they can get these problems fixed.

1 out of 5 stars Beautiful to look at   July 18, 2007

Our microwave was delivered and installed on 6/28, it worked for twenty minutes. On 7/3 the repairman came to fix it, he ordered parts. On 7/18 he returned with parts, however, the microwave is still in parts on the kitchen floor, numerous calls to everyone concerned with it (Whirlpool, Lowes, the installers, and an 'authorized' repair facility) and have garnered only apologies. I believe this was an item that needed more research before purchase. So as the title says, beautiful to look at because that's all we can do, and actually since it's in parts on the kitchen floor, it isn't even that.
(ASIDE) The Whirlpool folks were particularly apologetic, it seemed as though they were trained to say, "I'm sorry and there's nothing we can do.", as they managed this in a pleasant, polite, and smarmy manner.
