Product Description The classic look of the Oster Beehive blender has made it one of the most recognized designs in this small appliance category. It's the one appliance you'll reach for again and again whether you're blending a fruity smoothie or a frozen margarita drink. With sleek modern styling and a powerful 500-watt motor, this efficient countertop appliance works great for whipping up smoothies, mixing frozen drinks, blending pureed soups, stirring up salsas, and more. The blender?s easy toggle speed control provides continuous, smooth blending or a pulse option for precisely chopped food. For extra power and durability, the unit features an exclusive All-Metal Drive system and a stainless-steel ice-crushing blade. The scalloped base of the blender sports a brushed-chrome finish, and its 5-cup, calibrated, glass jar is designed with a dripless-pour spout for easy serving and is dishwasher safe for quick cleanup.

Perfect Blender September 26, 2008 Sabrina B. Lopez (west texas) Tried it out as soon as UPS delivered it and was amazed what it did to the cubed ice I put in it. It blendes like magic! Do not pass this one. Not as loud as people say either.
Powerful, easy to use, but LOUD August 28, 2008 Laura (Austin) I have now had this blender for a few years and love the simple design...I don't like the newer style of blender that has the big bottom jar going over the base instead of into it, even though that design probably provides more stability. Two things that make this blender less than perfect that I would like to change are: (1) the switch only holds its place on the high setting (up position) and the ear shattering noise on this higher speed is intolerable to me, I have to cover my ears, so I never use it. I wish the down position, which is the lower speed, also could lock in place so that I could have both hands free. (2) A redesign to reduce the noise level of this machine! Awhile back the bottom of the original glass jar broke where the blade screws on so I ordered a stainless steel replacement and it has been great. I tend to use this blender for smaller jobs. I have a larger KitchenAid to handle heavier work.
This thing can really blend! August 15, 2008 B. Walker This only has two settings but why would you need more? I only use the low setting and have had no problems whatsoever blending my frozen fruit or ice into a perfect smoothie. I have had this for almost a year and have not had any issues. It looks and feels like a professional quality blender. Highly recommended!
Very, Very Good...but not perfect June 15, 2008 D. See (Wheaton, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought to make morning smoothies. Chops quickly, easy to clean, elegantly simple & attractive, the blender seems to be of very good quality. Negative points are the LOUDNESS of this thing. Sounds like a rock-crusher in action. Also has some issues with blending too much fruit and ice at once. Be reasonable in adding things to blend, and you'll be fine. Overall, a very good product.
Buyer beware. This has design problems. March 7, 2008 C. Andaya (Long Beach, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have tried several blenders primarily for smoothies. This blender is powerful at 500 watts and it will literally move on the counter due to the vibration while blending. It is fairly loud but it is a blender. It makes great smoothies as long as fruit is cut in pieces and enough milk or soymilk is used for a smooth consistancy. However, this blender uses a fuse that I assume protects the motor. The fuse cannot be replaced by the consumer. I cut out the fuse after it burned out and connected the wires to the motor. The blender worked great for a while until the motor coupling broke. Oster promotes this blender as all metal drive. A motor coupling connects the motor shaft to the blades. This coupling is a thin threaded metal rod enclosed in rubber. Mine broke and now I need to replace it. I won't buy another Oster again.
