Product Description Harvest your favorite fruits and vegetables right into this attachment for healthy and delicious drinks and purees, baby foods and sauces.
Amazon.com Review For use with all KitchenAid household stand mixers, these parts add a strainer function to the KitchenAid food grinder accessory (which is not included). Cooks who have the food grinder will find the strainer to be a valuable addition. Like the grinder, the strainer turns many tough kitchen chores into walks in the park. It converts cooked apples and pears into sauces for preserving or immediate consumption. Freezer jams are a snap; so is fresh tomato sauce. Baby foods can be made in quantity and frozen. The strainer assembles and disassembles quickly and easily without tools, and most parts are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

Great Time Saver October 7, 2008 Rhonda (Kentucky) I bought this to use for tomatoes since we produced so many thia year. It worked great. What use to take most of a day was cut down to 30 minutes.
Just as Advertised! September 30, 2008 Joan Fox (Chicago Suburbs) This attachment requires the prior purchase of food grinder. Setup was intuitive, and easy. The strainer worked the first time exactly as advertised, quick and easy. The total elapsed time to make a brimming 2 quarts of applesauce, including canning water bath, was about an hour. So much faster than food mill, as you only have to chunk the fruit before cooking. I placed the mixer next to the sink, so the discarded peel ect. dropped into the sink, and silky applesauce into a bowl. I used a pyrex 1 cup measure to load the hopper, and it worked as fast as I could reload. Cleanup was easy, a second look at the sieve to make sure no skin was left behind required another rinse and poke with a tiny brush. I can't wait for next year's tomato sauce prep. Highly recommend this product.
Works great September 24, 2008 C. A. Todd (Indiana) The Fruit and Vegetable strainer is really easy to attach to the food grinder accessory and very easy to clean. I was impressed with how effective it was and how it still left some of the pulp in the juice, just the way I wanted it. I put the "waste" through a second time and got an additional amount of juice from it. It's definitely a must-have for anyone who does canning. The only negative was that it forced me to do a lot of work at shoulder level or higher, so next time I am going to have to find a lower surface, cause it wore me out!
This is the way to make canned applesauce. September 15, 2008 Nancy J. Roberts (Cedar Falls, Iowa) I canned eight gallons of applesauce without having to take this product apart and clean it. That is a big deal for me, what a time saver. Everything else I have used usually clogs up, and I have to stop to clean it out. It left all the good stuff in, and the core and seeds were discarded as dry as can be. NO WASTE!
Does the trick, but time consuming September 7, 2008 MA (Florida, USA) Have used only once so far. Prepared sweet potatos and apples. A dream for apples. Not so for sweet potatoes, had to pass through the sweet potatoes several times and clear the gunk twice to get just three potatoes to pass through. So this is not the end all be all for straining, however if you are an apple sauce fan... or other similar fruits...it's a dream. Lots of parts to assemble/dissemble and clean. Also instructions advise cooking foods before straining, so this is a multi-step process. Parts are sturdy, expect it to last a long time. Most certainly is far better than pushing foods through strainer by hand! Really need blender for some foods and this strainer for others to have complete coverage of baby food straining capabilities. Note: this item requires the food grinder to complete the parts needed to function.
