Amazon.com Review Pressure cookers have experienced renewed popularity over the last several years because cooks have rediscovered what some cooks (particularly grandmas) have known for a long time--they're really fast. And it's easy to cook healthfully with pressure cookers, since the food retains so much more of its nutrients and flavor. Presto's 4-quart stainless steel pressure cooker is a multi-purpose pot that can stand in as a conventional saucepan as well as perform the kitchen magic that pressure cookers are famous for. Chicken Cacciatore cooks in 8 minutes! This professional-quality stainless steel pressure cooker is a handy addition to any well-rounded set of kitchen tools. The heavy-duty lid locks down during cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. In addition to a pop-up pressure indicator and a simple steam release mechanism, there is an overpressure plug that will let off steam if it builds up excessively. This pressure cooker is useful for weeknight dinners or for any meal that needs to come together quickly. An accompanying booklet contains more than 65 recipes, ranging from basic soup stocks to stews and pot roasts--even desserts like 5-minute custards! Tenderize lean cuts of beef or pork; or cook chicken, fish, or vegetables faster than you can in a microwave, and without losing moisture. Nonabrasive cleansers are best for cleaning this stainless steel pressure cooker, though occasional use of a fine metal polish will help the exterior keep its shine. The Presto 4-quart pressure cooker is fully immersible; in addition, the sealing ring should be removed after each use to allow cleaning of the inside rim of the lid. The vent pipe is simple to keep clean with a small brush or pipe cleaner, and both the air vent/cover lock and the overpressure plug are removable. The pressure cooker measures 9 inches in diameter (16-1/2 inches including handles) and 6-1/2 inches tall (including lid). Presto guarantees this pressure cooker with an extended 12-year warranty. A detailed instruction and recipe booklet is included; special safety issues that pertain to pressure cookers are clearly explained. --Garland Withers

Presto Cooker February 10, 2010 J. Falwell (Georgetown, KY) This is an excellent product that I highly recommend. I use it 3-4 times a week.
The Perfect Pressure Cooker February 7, 2010 FELICIA This is a lovely pressure cooker--it is light, it has two handles (which helps when you carry it outside to cool off) and it is the right size for one or two people. AND it is inexpensive! However, do study that booklet many times, as the info that keeps you safe is somewhat distributed through the booklet, rather than in one spot. Not a time to sip wine as you cook!
What can I say, It's the Best! February 6, 2010 RVC (Thomaston, GA, US) I have owned several Pressure Cookers in the past! Never been satisfied! This one, named "Presto" has totally won me over! I can not quiet using it! I give it thumbs up and five stars!

poor updated design on lid closing and handle January 26, 2010 homechef (LA, USA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I had purchased a 6 Quart and was very happy about the usage and ease of use from the get-go.
so I just decide to purhase a 4 Quart one to cook for smaller meal and as an entra set to speed my cooking process when I need two for a meal.
This 4 Quart is a bummer from the beginning. First of all, the handle design is much wider in hand-grip area for a female comparing with a 6 Quart, and as a female I can tell you I have relative big hands not those petite ones. ( which I want to ask and wonder WHY is it needed to be that way in the first place if it does not need more pressure or bigger pot than the 6 Quart in size? ). Then, you can not close the lid with ease which is the most important and fundamental part for a Pressure COOKER!!!!! No kidding!
I followed their instruction on you have to press down the Opposite end at beginning to close until it get lose after USE.
Ok, regarding this point, I have to ask for the following questions
1) does it make sense if the 6 quart does not have to have this procedure when I bought it in around January 09, why now this 4 Quart need to do so? why in design, they are essentially the SAME THING? if supposedly this more recent design comparing with what I bought a year ago?
2) after we tried to close it about 50 times or more just to see if it would make it loose and easier for daily use, so far we have not able to see it is any easier than the 1st pressure cooker I bought over a year ago, the 6 Quart one in year 2009.
Ultimately, I just do not get it as an Engineer myself that if a new product NEEDS CUSTOMER TO WORK AT IT TO MAKE IT SEAL EASILY AND BETTER, it is something wrong about the manufacturing thinking process!!!!!!! After all, Presto is able to make a 6 Quart model I bought a year ago works more smoothly.
So, my question is then followed on: What happened to this NEW related model????? for the 4 quart now? Why there is a Green insert to make note to customer that you have to have this special process for a customer to keep working at the lid to make it seal until you use it for sometime?
I do not know if they now change the 6 Quart for the handle and lid also like the 4 quart?
this is the 2nd replacement I got, I will keep for a few days to see how it works out and may have to return it if it continues to not work out.
I am not happy about the changes on the 4 quart one the lid-closure as well as the handle grip change!

Essential kitchen cookware January 24, 2010 Sylvia A. Oliver 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased the 4-qt Presto pressure cooker after reading very positive feedback from most customers. I have used it every day since receiving it and love it. I was a bit concerned about the size of the 4-qt (vs 6 qt), but it has been very useful for cooking everything from oatmeal to rice to meats for meals for four adults. It is very easy to use and easy to clean. I would highly recommend this pressure cooker!!
