5 out of 5 stars Good pot and a bad cook   January 27, 2008

I would not have bought this item if Amazon offered this unit for $100, for I've had various pressure cookers in the past that lasted worthy of that much money. What a pleasant surprise; It's been more than 2 years of regular use and abuse, and has not encountered any problem whatsoever. I'd not mind spending full retail price knowing that how well this thing is engineered and built.

Its innovative pressure indicator feature, the thing that pops out, informs user to set optimal heat setting while preventing a possible explosion. Once temperature of cooking matter has reached maximum temperature with full heat applied, usually 30-40% of maximum heat is all that's required to retain highest temperature; this is important if one cooks over 3 hours like I do. Compare to 10 hours of continuous heating at full heat with conventional pot; saves big on utility bill, all precious human time and unpleasant odor left by boiling something for such long time. Pressure relief valve is the best design I've seen so far, in safety and functionality aspect. I can see that people actually used their brain to work when designing this unit, and I appreciate that greatly.

5 out of 5 stars WFM - Wonderful, Fabulous Must-have   December 15, 2007

I guess I am rhapsodizing over this pressure cooker but it's the 4th one I've tried and I must say I love it!

We remodeled our kitchen and our new cooktop is an induction model so our old (20+ year) aluminum PC no longer worked for us.

I tried Futuro, Kuhn Rikon and some other brand I don't recall. None was both thick enough to prevent food burning and with a simple and easy to use pressure system.

I cook daily for 6 or more and this cooker is big enough to meet all my needs. In the few days I've had it, I've made risotto - no burning, cheesecake - no cracking, chicken cacciatore and brisket. Every recipe was perfect when done.

Clean up is a snap - remove the handle and rinse under running water. Remove the sealing ring and wash by hand. Toss everything else in the dishwasher.

Did I say I love this pressure cooker? Yes, it's expensive but well worth it!

This is my first attempt at using a pressure cooker. Since I got it I use it at least once a week. It's great for quick, healthy one pot meals. It does take some getting used to. I ruined a brisket on the first try, after that I have had nothing but successes.

5 out of 5 stars The Mercedes Benz of all Pressure Cookers!   September 13, 2006

A truly wonderful edition to every kitchen, and a must have for all busy chefs or just the occasional cook. Have used WMF pressure cookers since being a teenager (30 years+), and each model only gets better. Don't try and save on cheaper brands!

Easy to handle, simple instructions, please don't have any fear of it. After a while you will enjoy it, and the time it saves you when you prepare stews, stocks or chicken soups etc. in just a fraction of the normally required time.

To Kwang H. Kim and his earlier posted message: it sounds like you had the gas flame too high, coming up at the side of the pot. These things are normally indestructible.

Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Deserving of the name "Perfect Plus."   May 23, 2006

Beautiful engineering, beautiful appearance, perfect ease of use; what more can you ask for? I've never used a pressure cooker before, but after reading the manual, I had no trouble at all. After just one use, my fear of "the thing exploding," completely disappeared. The quick pressure release was very easy and functional, and clean up was a snap due to the removable handle. I've only used it a few times, so I can't comment on its durability, but it looks like it will last a very very long time. I got it at a great price, and so far I am very happy with the purchase. Thank you, Amazon.com.
