Product Description
Take the pressure of yourself, and put it on your food! Pressure cooking is healthy, super fast, and now easier than ever thanks to this programmable electric cooker. Its 8 safety features include: a mechanical locking device, a zero pressure device (ensuring that the lid stays locked until no pressure remains in pot), a visual pressure indicator, an electrical locking device which means that unless the pot is located correctly on the base it won't make an electrical connection, a directional pressure regulator, a gasket release system which is activated in the event of any blockage in the vent tube, a multi-functional safety plug and auto shut off in case of inadequate water or an over temperature thermal cutout. There now, doesn't that make you feel like trying this baby out?

1 out of 5 stars Poor Quality   June 7, 2006

During the first use, cooker started smoking from the bottom, which I assumed was just manufacturing oil being burned off. Continued to use but cooker wouldn't operate for more than 15 minutes without shutting off due to overheating. I'm surprised Amazon agreed to carry such a poor quality product.

4 out of 5 stars I didn't blow up the chicken!   November 15, 2005

My husband bought this pressure cooker for me almost a year ago and admittedly, I was scared to use it. Everyone has a story of 'someone' they know that used a pressure cooker and blew up dinner, having to scrap it off the ceiling. I grew up in a household that used pressure cookers so I was familiar with them but had never attempted it on my own.

This week I decided to take the plunge. I would not have felt comfortable using it without the instruction manual (a poster below rated it very low but admitted they had no documentation with it). This cooker comes with 2 bookets; one is a manual and the second is a recipe book. I wish the recipe book had more to choose from, but it's a good start.

You have a base that sits on the counter, so your pressure cooker does not have to cook on the stove. The pot fits into the base, the lid locks in place for cooking and see-thru glass lid comes with for warming later on. It also comes with a steamer basket and a trivet.

The ease of use is highly rated by me. One push on the button sets the time and you are good to go. The timer will shut off the pressure cooker after the cook time and automatically sets it to 'warm' so you don't have to babysit it. When your meal is finished you remove the pot from the base, let the pressure out and take the lid off. Dinner is served!

The only downside I can think of would be the pot has a base attached to it so you cannot immerse the pot into your sink to clean.

Now that I've take the plunge and prepared a Chicken Marengo recipe I plan on tackling mashed potatoes and the brisket next. Cooking potatoes in 16 minutes, chicken pieces in 17 minutes and briskets in 40 is heaven sent on busy nights! My hope and plan is to use the Manttra Multi Cooker on average once a week this winter. I'm very excited I finally got the nerve to give it a try!

1 out of 5 stars Burns to easily   November 13, 2005

I have had the cooker for a few weeks. I tried 2 different recipes (with plenty of water) and both burnt the bottom of the pan. I sent the unit back without cleaning it to show them the results. Maybe I had a faulty unit but until I see better results I cannot recommend this unit.

Easy to use. Safe. All the bells and whistles.

Never had a problem with it - I've used pressure cookers for over 14 years (I think). This is the best one I've had - The timer cooks automatically. And then keeps the food warm - so I can do something else while it is cooking.

Customer Service Folks are real friendly (their toll free # has changed to 1-877-962-6887)

Recipe book has some starter recipes - it could use some more. I got a bunch of pressure cooking recipes online.

Best buy I ever made in the kitchen

5 out of 5 stars Easiest Cooker to use in my kitchen   September 8, 2005

I bought this from Best Buy for $99.99 two years ago. It is so easy to use. I make Chicken soups in it... about half the time as on the stove. All you do is load the cooker with the food, set the timer, close the lid, and hit start.

In a few minutes it reaches pressure and starts cooking... its got over 5 safety features - I've never had a problem with it so far...

I had a question with how to use it and I called the customer service number from the website, and someone walked me through it.

An excellent buy - it even comes with glass lid, and a browning function so you can cook like a regular pot.
