5 out of 5 stars Super Usefull   May 2, 2008

I use this every day, its not one of those items that's just fun to show off. Easy to clean. I make a morning smoothie drink and in the evening I use it for sauces and soups.

Works as exactly as desired. I've used it to puree soups (done in a couple of minutes) and to make homemade pasta sauce (blend together canned tomatoes, olive oil, herbs) and it worked great for both recipes. Clean-up was a snap, too. Before getting the immersion blender, I used a regular blender to puree my recipes - time consuming and messy. For the price, this is a great kitchen tool.

5 out of 5 stars A completely winning stick blender   April 19, 2008

This is the third stick blender I've owned and it's unquestionably the best. I love the fact that the thing just absolutely will not choke. I've used it to make pesto and do the other assorted chopping I'd break out the food processor for when the batches are larger.
But when smaller amounts are called for -- like for dinner tonight, rather than going through a harvest from the garden -- this does the trick nicely.
It's great for making marinara from canned tomatoes (I used to use my Waring blender for this, but it was hard not to over blend things.) But the best I'll save for last: The business end of the thing pops right off and will go in the top rack of the dishwasher. It's a workhorse. Has the power it needs for routine jobs, is priced reasonably and clean up is an absolute breeze. I wish all my purchases worked out this well.

This gadget isn't Cooks Illustrated's #1 choice for hand blenders for no reason: it's powerful, has adjustable speeds, and, perhaps best of all, it detaches for easy cleaning. Great for soups, plus the cup it ships with is perfect for single-servings of smoothies. I wouldn't bother with any other immersion blender.

What an improvement over the dinky little immersion blender I had before. This one has a blade 3 times the size of my old one, and it actually does not fall apart while I am using it.

I like the different speeds, although I initially thought it was silly to have so many.

So far I have used it for squash soup, carrot soup, and mushroom soup. This immersion blender made it so easy to make them...they were pureed in a minute!
